Crimean Tatar guitar virtuoso Enver İzmaylov is featured on three tracks on The Klezmatics’ new album, We Were Made for These Times — bringing his extraordinary two-handed tapping guitar technique and a musical language rooted in Crimean Tatar tradition, jazz and improvisation.

Back in 2024, on Fugu Dugu’s first U.S. tour, the band met and played with the incredible Enver İzmaylov for the first time (including JetLAG Festival appearance)

This video is from that tour.

Two years later, Enver is playing on Fugu Dugu’s new recording of KAMYANA GORA — out now — with an arrangement by Oleg Skrypka of Vopli Vidopliassova.

From Crimea to The Klezmatics — 40 years apart.

Frank London on “Kegn Gold Fun Zun / Tatar Dance,” featuring Crimean Tatar guitar virtuoso Enver İzmaylov:
“This song is in a way a bookend to our feisty version of ‘Dzhankoye,’ which appeared on The Klezmatics’ very first album, Shvaygn = toyt (Silence = Death). Both songs emanate from the Jewish experience in Crimea.”
Unlike “Dzhankoye,” the music of “Kegn Gold Fun Zun” is based on the traditional Crimean Tatar song “Altın Yüzük” (“Golden Ring”) — with Frank adding dance sections and Enver bringing his guitar magic.

“Kamyana Gora” goes straight to the Eastern European roots of WILD EAST PUNK — old-world melody, explosive violin, electric guitars and a song carried across borders and generations.

Featuring Crimean Tatar guitar virtuoso Enver İzmaylov, with arrangement by Oleg Skrypka, frontman of Ukrainian rock legends Vopli Vidopliassova.
