Capturing the Captain: The "Black and Yellow" Series.
The transition to the next piece is underway. I've officially started the 24"x36" canvas featuring Milwaukee Wave captain, Ian Bennett. ⚽️ The current charcoal sketch is where the energy begins to take shape. This Fine Art series continues to be a study in grit, leadership, and the intensity of Milwaukee indoor soccer. 🎨
Stay tuned for the evolution of this sports art piece. ⚡️

There is a beautiful kind of chaos in the studio right now at Relic Fine Art Studio. 🎨 Between the intensity of the 'Black and Yellow' soccer series, a silhouette soccer series called Grit and Glow, a new Heart Flower collection, botanical pieces for relaxation spaces, and a special personal commission of my son, it’s a season of deep creation.
I’m also working on getting the official shop live soon! Which of these series are you most curious to see unfold? Let me know in the comments. ⬇️ "

Capturing the Captain: The "Black and Yellow" Series.
After the intensity of "Saucy Sanchez," the story of the Milwaukee Wave continues. My next subject? Team captain Ian Bennett. ⚽️
This Fine Art series is a study in grit, leadership, and the relentless drive that defines the Milwaukee indoor soccer culture. I’ll be at the easel, translating that energy onto a 24"x36" sports art canvas. 🎨
Stay tuned for the evolution of this soccer piece as it takes shape. ⚡️

"The 'Black and Yellow' series is officially in motion at Relic Fine Art Studio. Since Alejandro Sanchez Jr. kicked things off, I’m looking at the roster for the next study. This original mixed-media charcoal portrait captures the intensity of the game through contemporary sports portraiture, tailored for collectors and high-end interiors.

Who would you like to see captured in charcoal next? Drop a player name below!"

A moment of quiet contemplation—captured in charcoal on paper.
There is a deliberate stillness in this portrait that I love, but I’ve been considering an evolution. I’m currently debating a 2.0 version of this study on canvas, incorporating some of the newer, looser techniques I’ve been developing.
I’m curious to hear from those who follow my work: do you prefer the raw, textured intimacy of charcoal on paper, or are you drawn to the elevated scale and presence of canvas?
Let me know your take in the comments—it helps me shape the next collection.

"Saucy Sanchez" — the first addition to my Black and Yellow series. 🌊
This piece was a challenge in layering and texture: charcoal and acrylic built up with gesso and modeling paste, finished with black synthetic turf to capture the raw grit of the pitch.
