I think about this a lot…
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Maybe Life Just Won’t Be Fair
Maybe life just won’t be fair,
in all the ways we’d hoped.
Life is messy and complicated.
Some eat beans
while another eats steak.
Is that fair?
But then again, maybe one person’s beans is their steak.
Maybe not.
Some have no beans at all.
The cold winter wind blows on all of us.
That’s fair.
But you notice it more if you’re homeless.
If life were fair,
we’d all get the very best healthcare —
not because one of us has more money, making that one more deserving,
but because we are all human beings.
We all deserve care for our one life.
Who says life isn’t for sale?
It is.
Ask what the kid down the street got for Christmas.
“Johnny, were you a good boy?”
What Johnny got was a stocking full of misery from his drug-addicted dad.
Why did Santa put him on the naughty list?
Maybe it’s his fault?
Do we have an answer for him?
We don’t.
We can’t all have luxurious hair,
or escape male pattern baldness.
Some of us get acne, some warts—
Some both.
But we all get sunsets,
painting their way across the evening sky in oranges, pinks, and violets.
Maybe that’s enough?
Maybe life just won’t be fair,
in all the ways we’d hoped.
Why is that so hard to sit with —
or is it just me?
