We’ve been busy!
First of all, I gave birth to a 💕💕beautiful baby girl💕💕 at the end of April. She is the sweetest little angel, and it’s such a privilege being her Mama. 🥰

Now that I’m getting into the swing of motherhood, my creative itch has returned, and I just had to get something out there in time for July 4th!

I’ve been dreaming these up for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

Time for another life update: Last week I defended my dissertation and finished my PhD in English! I’m also having a baby next month! As you can see, life is a bit crazy, but I haven’t forgotten about my Stella Joie fam, and I think about creating all the time, even if I haven’t had the energy for it lately.

Hello all! I know it’s been a while, but I wanted to let my local customers know you can find a lovely assortment of my Valentine’s designs at in Waxahachie!

I’m not currently selling or shipping online, so I haven’t been making or advertising much. Here’s a little life update to explain:

This next month I’m focusing on finishing and defending my dissertation (finally!), and the following month I’ll be preparing to have my baby girl, who’s due in April!

Teaching is dear to my heart! I’ve taught, tutored, subbed, and lectured at every level from kindergarten to college (I currently teach British Literature at a university), and I know how hard teachers work behind the scenes, often when no one is watching. You make a difference!

So…if you’re a teacher, tell me what you teach to enter (homeschool counts too)! If you want to nominate your teacher friends, tag them and tell me what you love about them. 👩‍🏫✏️🍎

I’m going to design a pair of custom earrings for one of you! Maybe something inspired by your field of teaching, something with teacher-y items like pencils, books, or apples, or just something you love. (Check out the other pics in this post for examples of some recent customs and bestsellers!)

Snake plants are one of my favorite house plants. My oldest house plant is one of these, and it was the model for this earring design.

I was gonna wait until I made more, but I still haven’t gotten around to it and have been dying to show you! 😊

I used a technique called “caning” to make the intricate patterns in the leaves. They’re little slices from a larger chunk, and it’s so satisfying when it comes out right. I’ll try to do a video and show the process at some point.

I have so many ideas in my head that sometimes I can’t get started! If I can’t go all out, I end up sitting on my butt instead.

I’m working on letting go of unrealistic expectations for myself and just doing what I can. This goes for everything from my art/jewelry to taking try-on photos with no makeup to my dissertation to literally going out walking just to get some fresh air when I’m too tired to go for a run.

Are you working on “just walking” in any areas of your life? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

This year’s theme is gonna be “done is better than perfect.” I am such a perfectionist. But where I am in life right now just doesn’t allow me to do things perfectly.

❌My photos might not be Insta-perfect
❌My acne might be showing
❌My studio might be messy
❌My Valentine’s Collection might only have two of the many designs I envisioned and planned
❌My dissertation might not revolutionize my field
❌My classes might not go exactly how I planned them
❌My mental and physical health might continue to throw me curveballs despite my best efforts

BUT…

✅I’m showing up
✅I’m being real
✅I’m making progress
✅I’m shaping minds
✅I’m leaving my mark

At the end of the day, I’m getting it done!

In just a few minutes (5 pm CST), I’ll finally be releasing my first Christmas designs of the year!

This year’s creating and posting has been a little chaotic. We moved a few weeks ago, I didn’t have a good place to create or take photos for a while, and lots of other life circumstances have intervened. I’m so excited to finally have these to share with you, and my hope is that there will be more to come in the weeks leading up to this wonderful holiday.
