🎨 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: HOEK 🎨

📍 Based out of Nashville, Tennessee

This week's spotlight features HOEK, a graffiti artist who has been creating since 2023. Introduced to The Walls Art Park through fellow artists and paint jams, HOEK brings a style deeply rooted in graffiti culture, hip-hop, and traditional street art.

🖌️ Art Style & Inspiration:
HOEK draws inspiration from raw graffiti, West Coast lettering styles, East Coast wildstyle, and artists such as Crise UTI and Luxer. His work focuses on letter structure, movement, and color, creating pieces that invite viewers to take a closer look and decode the story behind the letters.

✨ What He Hopes His Art Evokes:
Curiosity. He wants people to wonder about the meaning behind the letters and monikers, how the forms are bent and shaped, and why specific colors were chosen. His goal is to spark questions and encourage people to engage with the art on a deeper level.

💭 Something He Wants People To Know:
"I do it because I love it." Graffiti has held a special place in HOEK's life since middle school, and that passion continues to drive every piece he creates.

We're excited to spotlight Headdy Hardware, a Nashville-based artist whose work is heavily influenced by Surrealism, particularly the Pop Surrealist movement. Although art has been a lifelong passion, Headdy Hardware began pursuing it seriously in 2015 and has been creating thought-provoking pieces ever since.
🖌️ Art Style & Inspiration:
Drawing inspiration from Surrealism and Pop Surrealism, Headdy Hardware creates work that explores the strange, unexpected, and often humorous contradictions of everyday life. Each piece invites viewers to look a little deeper and find meaning in the absurd.
✨ What He Hopes His Art Evokes:
"I just want people to think about the juxtaposition and absurdity of everyday life and maybe chuckle at some slightly dark humor."
💭 Something He Wants People to Know:
"Life is rough sometimes, laughter can make it a bit more tolerable."

You can find prints and select original works at headdyhardware.org. His work is also available at Yeast Nashville, and he'll be vending at the Nashville Punk Flea Market this July.

When I first saw this piece being made, I immediately understood the reference. Patty took the composition and mood of the original and reimagined it with contemporary techniques, colors, and perspectives. It's incredible how art from the 19th century can continue to inspire artists today, as well as the viewer.

This week we’re excited to spotlight Steven The Artist, an artist whose work is deeply inspired by the beauty and flow of nature, and it really shows! Steven has been creating art his entire life, with 10 years of painting experience and 6 years working with spray paint.

Steven draws inspiration from nature, the movement, patterns, and energy found all around us, as well as the artists he’s met throughout his journey. Every experience and connection continues to fuel the inspiration behind his work and artistic growth.

🎨 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Bob Peck

We’re excited to spotlight Bob Peck, an artist with over 33 years of experience whose work brings bold color, movement, and positive energy to every space he paints. We love the color and energy Bob brings to the Art Park, and we are so grateful that he paints here!

🖌️ Art Style & Inspiration:
Bob started out as a traditional graffiti writer in the 90’s but was always drawn to alternative style writers like Onorok and Joker. Over time, he pushed his lettering further toward abstraction until eventually letting go of letter structure entirely while keeping the energy, movement, shapes, and vibrant colors that make graffiti so powerful. His work is energetic, expressive, and instantly recognizable.

✨ What He Hopes His Art Evokes:
“I try to brighten up spaces and bring a positive energy to them.”

💭 Something He Wants People To Know:
“That I’m more than an abstract artist. I can paint virtually any image you set in front of me. I chose abstract because it’s what makes me happy.”
