🌧️✨ Rain on the window, markers on the page.

Building depth, shadows, reflections, and glowing raindrops with Ohuhu alcohol markers and Sakura Gelly Roll pens. There's something oddly satisfying about watching a rainy scene come together one layer at a time.

How to create a neon glow effect with alcohol markers and white Gelly Roll highlights.

This coloring technique uses bright colors, strong contrast, and strategic highlights to make letters and objects appear illuminated. I planned the color palette in Marker Muse before coloring and then layered alcohol markers to build the glow effect.

Creating realistic lace curtains with alcohol markers ✨

This coloring page was colored with Ohuhu alcohol markers, then finished with a white Posca acrylic marker and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen to create the lace curtain details and highlights. Small details like fabric texture, window lighting, and white accents can add depth and realism to coloring pages.

Building an app while coloring wasn't on my 2026 bingo card.

This video is basically what the last week has looked like: coloring pages, marker swatches, feature requests, bug fixes, and a lot of coffee.

Marker Muse started as a random idea and somehow turned into a working app with mood-based palettes, marker search, color analysis, collection tracking, and a growing community of artists helping improve it every day.

Still a lot more to build, but it's been pretty wild watching it come to life.

🎨 So… I accidentally turned my coloring obsession into an actual app 😆

This video started with me trying to solve a problem I kept running into while coloring with alcohol markers… spending WAY too long overthinking color palettes, marker combinations, undertones, and what colors actually work together before I even started the page.

What started as a tiny side project somehow turned into Marker Muse 👀

A color palette and color theory app made for coloring fans, alcohol marker artists, cozy coloring creators, and people who love experimenting with color combinations without feeling overwhelmed.

In this video I’m testing palettes from the app while coloring a page from the Jade Summer Cozy Eras coloring book using Ohuhu alcohol markers 🎨

Marker Muse currently includes things like:

✨ marker palette inspiration
✨ color theory based suggestions
✨ marker matching
✨ mood/aesthetic palette generation
✨ palette organization
✨ color combo ideas
✨ artwork sharing/community features
✨ palette tweaking and testing
✨ inspiration for cozy coloring pages and alcohol marker art

Honestly… I built it because choosing colors was taking me longer than the actual coloring 😅

Still adding features, fixing bugs, improving palette suggestions, and expanding things constantly since the app literally only just launched 👀

🚨 Massive update just dropped for Marker Muse 🎨📱

Until today, Marker Muse was mostly just a palette discovery/mood tool.

Now it officially has a full social sharing/export system built in 👀

You can now:
• generate aesthetic palette cards automatically
• export clean Instagram-ready graphics
• share marker combinations with other artists
• post color moods/themes directly to social media
• create cinematic/color-theory-based palette posts in seconds

And today’s update also fixed a TON of mobile issues behind the scenes:
✅ Android export bugs
✅ blank image downloads
✅ text overlap problems
✅ missing share buttons
✅ mobile Share Sheet overflow issues

Honestly… this was a huge update the app 😆

Still early. Still testing. Still polishing.

But it’s finally starting to feel like a real creative tool instead of just a prototype.

Would genuinely love feedback from people actually using it out in the wild 💜

Big overhaul today 😅

HUGE update to the actual Ohuhu marker numbers/database.

Please double check things and let me know if anything looks wrong 👀

Added/fixed today:
• Light + dark mode
(still needs some cleanup/fixes)
• Sliders are way more responsive now
• Color Lab + Color Bridge are now on the main page
• Gap fills were added to the end of the color picker
(skin tones, shading colors, plants, etc. that fit the palette)
• Sign in to save palettes/my sets
• General UI cleanup + organization

There is SO much hidden inside this app right now 😆
Keep clicking/exploring because a lot of features are nested inside other sections.

Mixed media + cross-brand stuff is still a little hidden at the moment… trying to redesign that area better.

Also: when you click into individual colors there’s actually a LOT of info/details in there now 👀

Okay so… my ADHD hyperfocus fully won today and I accidentally made a whole app while experimenting 😭

It’s for helping with coloring palettes/moods/scenes because my brain always thinks in “what vibe am I trying to make this feel like?” instead of just picking random colors.

It is VERY not finished yet. There’s probably weird stuff hiding everywhere and I’ve stared at it too long to judge it objectively anymore 😆

I genuinely need feedback from actual coloring people:

- what feels cool
- what feels confusing
- what you’d actually use
- what feels unnecessary
- what breaks 😂

I honestly thought I was building this for free and apparently my bank account disagreed 💀

So before I sink more time and money into it… opinions?

I wanted this speakeasy scene to feel warm, smoky, and slightly secretive instead of using super dramatic lighting.

Most of the depth came from slowly building shadows and keeping the pink glow concentrated around the drinks and bottles instead of flooding the whole page with color. I also tried to keep the color theory balanced between warm browns, dusty pinks, and darker muted shadows so the glow still felt soft instead of neon. The Sakura Gelly Roll pen ended up doing a lot of the work on the glass by outlining reflections and parts of the glass edges over the original coloring book linework to make the glasses feel more reflective and realistic.

I used Ohuhu alcohol markers for most of the coloring, Kalour colored pencils for the soft pink glow, and a little bit of Posca marker for the thick saturated pink on the “secret drinks” and sign lettering.

This page took me 2 hours and 2 minutes between picking colors, building the lighting, and coloring everything in.

Still experimenting with how far I can push atmosphere and lighting on non-grayscale coloring pages 👀
