First off, thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of America’s Independence with us in Washington!
Our crew spent the entire day setting up and preparing for what was shaping up to be a great July 4th fireworks display. As many of you noticed, we made the decision to start the show about 10–15 minutes early because a strong storm was rapidly approaching.
Once the show started, we also picked up the pace in an effort to stay ahead of the weather and give everyone as much of the show as possible before the rain arrived. Unfortunately, just a few minutes in, the storm caught up to us and it just cut loose! Even with the heavy rain, we continued firing until the saturated fireworks and weather conditions made it unsafe to continue.
While we weren’t able to keep going as we had planned, we’re proud that we were able to keep the show going as long as we safely could. Anyone who has worked with fireworks knows that once racks, fuses, and shells become soaked, reliability and safety become major concerns.
We want to thank the City of Washington, everyone who helped make the event possible, and all of you who came out and stuck with us despite the weather. We truly appreciate your support and understanding. Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans, but we’re grateful we were able to celebrate with our hometown and honor America’s 250th birthday the best we could.
