With Vice President JD Vance traveling to Alaska this week to campaign for Sen. Dan Sullivan, I wanted to revisit my recent conversation with the Alaska Senator.

I asked Sullivan about the allegations involving Mary Peltola’s staff and reported text messages. Sullivan called the situation “very disturbing.”

With Sullivan and Peltola now battling in one of the races that could help determine control of the Senate, this exchange is increasingly relevant.

Congressman Rob Bresnahan on the importance of a strong ground game in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District.

After a morning of knocking doors in Scranton, I asked Congressman Bresnahan why direct voter contact still matters in modern political campaigns.

“When you’re at a door, you have an opportunity to separate fact from fiction.”

I asked Rep. Steny Hoyer what he thinks voters will remember most about this Congress as lawmakers head home before the midterms.

Hoyer pointed to what he described as a lack of productivity, affordability concerns, healthcare costs, and the war in Iran.

He concluded by saying those issues are why he believes Democrats will win the House in November.

I asked Rep. Rashida Tlaib what she thinks voters will remember most about this Congress as lawmakers head home before the midterms.

Tlaib said it feels like Congress is going home “without doing anything,” arguing that Americans want their lives changed for the better but aren't seeing enough movement in Washington.

She also criticized the Ratepayer Protection Act, which she called the “Ratepayer Deception Act,” while raising concerns about AI data centers, utility rates, and PFAS.

“This is why they don’t trust Congress.”

I asked Senator Alex Padilla what Democrats need to do to retake the Senate majority and what their priorities would be if they win in November.

His message was simple: “Work hard. Keep working hard.”

When asked about a potential Democratic Senate majority’s priorities, Padilla responded: “Let’s win in November.”

I asked Senator John Hoeven what Republicans need to do to retain the Senate majority in the midterms.

Hoeven said Republicans need to make their case to voters, arguing that “the energy” in the Democratic Party is socialism.

He also called for passage of the Ratepayer Protection Act, legislation aimed at preventing consumers from bearing increased energy costs associated with new data centers.
