Did you know? Audrey Hepburn’s scream during the famous "hand bitten off" gag in Roman Holiday (dir. William Wyler, 1953) is completely genuine. Gregory Peck never warned her he planned to pull his hand from his sleeve, proving that even an Oscar winning classic isn’t above a good dad joke…

Orthochromatic film is an early black and white film stock rendering blue and green tones brightly while dramatically darkening reds on camera. You can see the effect throughout Sherlock Jr. (Dir. Buster Keaton, 1924), especially in the bright outdoor scenes and high contrast closeups. It is still used occasionally today in films like The Lighthouse ((Dir. Robert Eggers, 2019).

Did you know? The giant three lens Cinerama cameras used to film “How the West Was Won” (Dir. Henry Hathaway, George Marshall, John Ford, 1962) were so bulky and difficult to use that many scenes had to be staged completely differently than a traditional Hollywood production. Because of this and other challenges, it was also the last narrative feature filmed in the original three strip Cinerama process.

Back in D.C., where so much of my work began.

Thank you to Great Minds for inviting StudioBDC to capture your 20-Year Legacy Dinner at The Mayflower. Great Minds creates high-quality curriculum materials in math, English language arts, and science, supporting teachers and helping students build deeper knowledge.
The evening brought together celebration, recognition, and a clear sense of mission.

Huge thanks to the A-Team crew: Director of Photography Jay Mallin and Photographer Erika Nizborski. Capturing a night like this well takes experience, calm, and sharp instincts.
From Richmond to D.C. and around the world, when you want the best of the best, you want StudioBDC.
