To the artists who moved us. 🩰✨

As our season comes to a close, we celebrate five extraordinary dancers who are concluding their journey with The Washington Ballet. From milestone performances to years of dedication, these artists have helped shape our Company with their passion, brilliance, and grace.

Join us in honoring:

Andile Ndlovu: A cornerstone of TWB since 2010. Andile’s athleticism and heart have defined over a decade of performances, with his roles as Puck (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Mercutio (Romeo & Juliet) standing out as his most memorable.

Nicole Graniero: Nicole has graced our stage with extraordinary artistry, from the neoclassical mastery of Balanchine to ethereal classical roles.

Stephanie Sorota: Stephanie’s focus and resilience have brought a powerful, quiet humanity to every role, from The Nutcracker to TWB world-premieres.

Samara Rittinger: Since joining TWB in 2016, Samara has evolved from a trainee into a versatile artist, bringing beauty to everything from the classics to cutting-edge, contemporary works.

Vladimir Tapkharov: For 3 seasons, Vladimir’s technical precision has been a wonderful addition to our stages and a joy for our audiences to experience

Thank you, Andile, Nicole, Stephanie, Samara, and Vladimir, for the inspiration you’ve shared with D.C. We can’t wait to see your next chapter! 👏

Dearest Reader,

As the final notes of Prokofiev’s soaring score fade and the lights of the grand ballroom now dimmed, the Ton is abuzz with the triumph of Cinderella.

While the curtain may be closing on this chapter, the impression is anything but fleeting. As BroadwayWorld aptly noted, this Cinderella is “a stunningly performed masterclass in storytelling.”

To our company, who poured their hearts and relentless passion into every step, ensuring that the emotion on stage felt as real as the breath in our lungs—BRAVO. This spirit was matched only by the dedication of our students. From crowd-favorite “bees” to each student who brought their all to the stage—you brought us all true joy.

Of course, a spectacle of this magnitude requires more than just those in the spotlight. We must honor the visionaries behind the scenes: the artistic and production teams who crafted this world of elegance, and Edwaard Liang, whose choreography brought a fresh resilience to this classic tale.

Most importantly, this journey would be incomplete without you—our loyal subscribers and the audiences who filled the National Theatre with such warmth. Your cheers and your presence are the final, essential ingredients in the stories we tell.

The slipper has been found, the ball has ended, and our hearts are full. 🐝✨ Tell us your favorite moment in the comments below.

Dearest Reader,

The verdict is in: Opening Night was the undisputed triumph of the season! The National Theatre was awash in elegance, though the clock is ticking for the rest of the Ton to make their appearance.

It has come to our attention that only 3 opportunities remain to witness this breathtaking display before the carriage turns back into a pumpkin. One simply cannot be seen elsewhere this weekend.

Will you be joining us at the ballroom, or will you be the talk of the city for all the wrong reasons?

The Final Performances:
- Today, May 9: 2:00PM & 7:00PM
- Tomorrow, May 10: 2:00PM

Yours Truly,

Dearest Reader, the carriage is at the door and the clock is nearing midnight. 🕛✨

Here is a last look at the whirlwind of energy in our studios as our Professional Company and students add the final flourishes to this vibrant world. We must be careful not to share too much, we wouldn't want to spoil the surprises awaiting you at The National Theatre.

Trust us when we say: the expansive world of Cinderella is best experience in person

Make haste! The ton is moving quickly, and seats are vanishing faster than a glass slipper on a palace staircase. 🏰

From Trainee to Pro 🩰

We are incredibly proud to announce Francesco Messina's promotion to the Professional Company! Francesco’s journey is a shining example of the pathway we’ve built here at TWB. Starting as a Trainee in , he spent the last two seasons honing his craft in our Studio Company, and has now officially danced his way into the Professional Company.

This promotion highlights our commitment to preparing the next generation of dancers for the global stage while securing the future of our company from within our own halls.

You can catch Francesco’s artistry in action this weekend as he performs the role of the Jester in Cinderella for two performances — Saturday at 7:00PM and Sunday at 2:00PM.

Join us in the comments in celebrating this well-deserved milestone. 🥂
