The Wolves Are At The Door // pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic on illustration board // 16x20 // 2025

I started getting this feeling a little while ago, a kind of dread. The feeling was primal, it felt universal, it was like an instinctual oppressive dread. It presented as memory, like Deja vu; night time in the cold wilderness, the light of the fire dwindling. Hungry eyes waiting in the darkness for the chance to strike. The wolves licking their lips waiting.
The lights are flickering, and the “wolves” are taking advantage: they prowl city streets day and night. they enter homes businesses and places of sanctuary. Everywhere they go they destroy, terrorize, and kill.

The wolves are at the door.

The second collaboration with the talented - This one sums up the feeling of life in DC during the summer of 2025 through a classic monster movie/ kaiju lense. The air was filled with all kinds of invasive species- Lantern flys, the national guard, ICE….

I am pleased to officially announce FIGHTING SHADOWS: ROUND 2! This group exhibition runs from January 10 to February 7 and features over 20 amazingly talented DMV artists.
A great opportunity to view and purchase some amazing original art!

Joker, panda, sakura, ribbit, chains, tape, boards.

Being an artist is weird/fun/scary/hard/depressing/joyful/pleasurable/painful. You have to be personal with the public, vulnerable with strangers, and loud when sometimes you crave quiet. It’s like life. So you make something and you hope somebody “gets” it, or even if they don’t, you hope that somebody enjoys it enough to respond to it, and maybe make it a part of their life. This is what was in my head when I painted these pieces. I knew that I enjoyed my result, but I didn’t know how they would be perceived, and I knew that explaining would be tough because I didn’t have all the words. But I put them out there. And now they have become part of other peoples lives. I think about that and smile, and knowing that makes being an artist feel a little bit easier.

Holy, Holy, Holy merciful and mighty / early in the morning our song shall rise to thee…Did you know my father is a preacher, and even before he was my family made it a point to be in church every Sunday morning? My mom usually sang in the choir and played the piano at several churches and every service began with the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy”. Honestly I found church mostly boring and annoying but couldn’t help but be fascinated by the monsters and other creatures talked about in the Bible. You know six headed creatures, millions of eyes, burning wheels within wheels. And then I discovered the holiest thing of all…doughnuts.
I guess I needed something holy in my life the night I painted this. It was a Tuesday night, one late fall- the first Tuesday in November 2024…

It all started in high school with a stuff tiger that I named “Stanley.” After that, tigers sort of became one of my spirit creatures. When I feel lost in a jungle of doubts and anxiety, the tiger is where my focus goes. Everyone calls the lion the king of the jungle, but the lion is ill suited for the jungles and forests that the tiger calls home.
