Your business might need something else before it needs more publicity.

That might sound strange coming from someone who has spent her career in PR and marketing, but Sherrie Handrinos, the founder of Boost One Marketing, says media attention is only part of the equation.

What happens when people look you up? If your website can’t turn interest into sales, what is that attention worth?

In this episode of Heard on the Streets, Handrinos discusses how businesses can get ready for PR and where influencer partnerships fit into their strategy. She also explains how to write press releases with a real story and how to use AI without handing it the final say.

A press release is not a news story. They may look similar. They may even follow many of the same writing principles.

But they serve very different purposes.

A strong press release gives reporters the facts, context, quotes, and information they need to evaluate an announcement. From there, the journalist decides what’s newsworthy, verifies the information, adds additional reporting, and determines the story.

In our latest Substack article, Issac Morgan draws on his experience on both sides of the process, first as a journalist receiving pitches and later in PR sending them.
