CANCELLATION NOTICE: Violet 3/25-3/27
We are terribly sorry that due to health issues among the VIOLET company, including multiple COVID cases, we regrettably have to cancel this weekend’s performances of VIOLET. We are deeply disappointed for the students to not be able to share their extraordinary work with you this weekend. We are very sorry for the late notice, as the company has been integrating understudies throughout the week in an effort to prepare, but we have just received additional news that made this decision necessary.
Because several students have been impacted by health issues, we will wait until Monday to assess the plan for next week. Currently planned performances are sold-out. If we are able to add performances to enable more audience members to share in the work, we will do so. Ticket holders of the cancelled performances will receive first notice of available seats for an additional show.
For out of town guests, particularly family and friends of the company, we are incredibly sorry to share this news and recognize the profound disappointment that it brings.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience and know you will join us in wishing the company health. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions, and thank you!
–The VIOLET TEAM
Big congrats to Georgetown University Music Program Prof. Carlos Simon, featured in the Washington Post: "the very model of a modern major composer: an artist whose windows are thrown wide open to the world, and whose musical scope of late lands like a grand panorama of American life." Be sure to check out the great article and above-the-fold photo of him in Sunday's print Arts & Style section!

Yesterday Arn Chorn Pond, the founder of Cambodian Living Arts visited the class "Politics and Performance: Confronting the Past, Shaping the Future," along with Dijana Milošević, co-founder of DAH Theatre in Serbia. Co-taught by Prof. Derek Goldman and Prof. Cynthia Schneider, the class of 13 students just returned from spending their spring break in Cambodia, hosted by Cambodia Living Arts. Arn is a musician, human rights activist, and survivor of the Khmer Rouge period. He was born into a family of artists, but in 1975 was sent to a children’s labor camp. Under the instruction of a Master Artist, he survived by playing propaganda music. He escaped, spending time at a refugee camp in Thailand, before an aid worker adopted him and brought him to the US.
This week's Friday Music Series: Huda Asfour and Kamyar Arsani. Come out every Friday 1:15pm, McNeir Hall Georgetown University!
