We are saddened by the passing of Warwick's own latin music, historian and author - Joe Conzo, Snr. We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends. Joe you will be missed. A cherished friend who left an indelible mark on our lives, inspiring us to cherish the memories. Your presence in your home of Warwick, NY, was a gift to us, and your legacy will continue to thrive through the countless lives you've touched. Thank you for sharing the remarkable story of your friend Tito Puente, a true Latin music legend, whose impact on the world of music will forever be remembered, you never let us forget that. You've been enlightening us with profound insights and experiences of a golden era of the Palladium days, and we are eternally grateful for the lessons learned.
Joe, you were one of our first supporter of our cultural arts endeavors here in Warwick, as we had collaborated many times, with you always paying tribute to your friend and subject of your book, Mambo Diablo, about the life and times of Tito Puente. You were an integral part of so many things here, from the early days of our Jubilee Multicultural arts studio to our Latin Jubilee Radio show, where you were a frequent guest, always encouraging and supportive. I learned about the "Big 3 Ts" of Latin music - Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Tito Gomez, and the Machito band. But you always acknowledged the female singers contributions like Graciela, La Lupe, and of course, Celia Cruz, which I appreciated. I admired your passion and your straightforwardness, like no other. A gem to us up here in our neck of the woods.
You were also a friend and a kind soul - after the loss of our son, you were a comfort to our family, and I am forever grateful to have known you. Will miss you, Joe. Thank you for helping to keep la cultura alive. I know that your transition to the next adventure will be met with celebration.
May the angels es**rt you to your final rest, and may the memories of our time together remain a testament to your impact on our community and in those who knew you, and touch throughout the world. Godspeed to Joe Conzo Sr. On Angel's Wings. Oye, Palante, as you would say. ❤️🙏🏽🎶🕺🏽
Your friend, Judy Battista (Latin Jubilee) ♡
