I want to share with you the story of a very special young man.

Yesterday, I thought I was going to make his day. Little did I know, he was about to make mine.

His name is Antonio.

When Antonio was just 4 years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia. For the next 2½ years, he endured chemotherapy, more than 20 spinal taps, and countless hospital visits. During some of the hardest days of his life, his family would watch videos of snakes and alligators together because reptiles helped take his mind off everything he was facing.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of bringing those animals to him in person for his 8th birthday.

Later that evening, Antonio's mom sent me a message that I'll never forget. She told me that after the party, Antonio said it was the best day he'd ever had.

I sat there for a moment and just let that sink in.

Not because of anything I did, but because of what God allowed me to be part of.

You see, reptiles didn't just make Antonio's day.

When I was his age, they changed my life too.

Growing up, these animals became an outlet that kept me out of trouble, offered friendship. They gave me purpose, taught me patience and responsibility, and opened the door to relationships and opportunities I never imagined. Looking back now, I can see that God was using what many people overlooked to prepare me for something much bigger than myself.

Standing there yesterday, it all came full circle.

The same animals that helped shape my life were now being used to bring joy and hope to a little boy who had already endured battles that most adults will never face.

It reminded me that this has never really been about reptiles.

It's about connection.
It's about hope.
It's about God's children.

God has a way of taking the things that shape us and using them to bless someone else.

Antonio, thank you for reminding me why I do what I do. Your story touched my heart far more than you'll probably ever know.
