The Wagner Farm Arboretum Foundation is a non-profit fund raising organization supporting a suburban conservancy and learning center on the former Wagner Farm. The arboretum is dedicated to the environmental and horticultural education of children and adults through the collection, study and display of trees, shrubs, flowers and other plant life in a beautiful, natural setting to encourage cultiva
tion and conservation of plant life in ways that promote community involvement and increased environmental awareness.
Some of the harvest we have grown, gathered, and distributed this month
Summer is here, and the Wagner Farm Arboretum Giving Garden has completed the installation of a new irrigation system, and has begun harvesting fresh produces to donate.
We are in need of gently used garden tools (both long and short handled tools), wheelbarrows, stakes and fence post materials to build trellis for supporting plants.
In addition, we collect reusable bags to transport fresh produce grown at our garden as well as what we harvest from Rutgers University research farm to deliver to local charities. Please remove invoices/receipts/labels with any personal information as the bags will be repurposed to distribute food and supplies to individuals in need. Plastic bags are no longer being accepted for use.
Please contact us if you have any reusable bags or gently used garden tools to donate. We will arrange pick up/drop off at your convenience. If you are interested in volunteering, email [email protected] for more information.

Wagner Farm Arboretum Announces Open Volunteer Sessions:
On April 15, 2023, the Wagner Farm Arboretum’s Giving Garden will begin their open volunteering sessions for individuals wishing to help out in our garden. Each Saturday WEATHER PERMITTING from 9AM until noon, volunteers are encouraged to come and work together on tasks that are time-of-year dependent, such as preparing beds, planting crops, or harvesting. These sessions are for individual volunteers as opposed to large groups - students who need volunteer hour requirements for HS or anyone looking to do something different with their free time. Larger groups are encouraged to schedule their own event in advance with the Giving Garden Director.
You can attend whenever it fits YOUR schedule….once a week, once a month, once a year. Come whenever you want and stay as long as you want. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring your own work gloves and if needed, a sun hat.
The Giving Garden is located within the Wagner Farm Arboretum, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization in Warren, NJ. The current 50 plot garden is maintained strictly by volunteers who want to make organic food available to those who are food insecure in local communities.
For more information, please email us at [email protected] or call (908) 350-7383.
Come garden with us!
Are you an experienced gardener? Do you like to help those in need? Then please consider adopting a plot in the Wagner Farm Arboretum Giving Garden!
The Wagner Farm Arboretum Giving Garden grows and donates thousands of pounds of produce each year to local food banks. Since its inception, the Giving Garden, in partnership with Snyder Farms, has donated over 500,000 pounds of produce to those in need.
If you are interested in helping, here is some more information:
- All produce is donated to soup kitchens and food banks
- This is a commitment from April until September. All gardeners must maintain their own plots
- All tools, wheelbarrows , and seeds, among other items, are provided by Giving Garden.
- A variety of crops are planted in the Giving Garden, dependent on the nutritional needs of the communities that we serve.
- The irrigation system is automatic and controlled.
You do not need to be a member of the Wagner Farm Arboretum, but some gardening experience is preferable.
Please call the Wagner Farm Arboretum office at 908-350-7383 or email us at [email protected] to adopt a plot.

Story time this Saturday at Wagner Farm Arboretum! Admission is free 🐝
This week we are celebrating Eagle Scout Elliott Baratta. He built four benches for the Children's Garden, so parents and grandparents could relax while watching the children play on our outdoor musical instruments.
Next time you come to the garden, sit back and enjoy the view!
We thank you, Elliott, for making the garden a more beautiful and relaxing destination.
Scouting is alive and well here at WFA!
For the next few weeks we will spotlight the fabulous scouts who have created projects for the arboretum. Each one of these scouts has done exceptional work, benefiting the arboretum and the community. We thank each and every one of them for their commitment.
This week we spotlight Eagle Scout, Tyler Eng. He has designed, built and installed these amazing Purple Martin houses here in the Children's Garden. Come to the garden and check out the awesome craftsmanship!!
Do you need a project for the summer? Want to help feed those less fortunate while learning some new skills? Why not volunteer for the WFA Giving Garden?!
At the garden we grow vegetables all summer, which are then harvested and brought to NJ food banks. So far this year we have delivered over 600 pounds of produce to food banks.
Why not become a volunteer? Fresh air and sunshine are in abundance, as well as friendly, knowledgeable people to help answer your questions.
Students ~ this is great to add to your college applications. All ages are welcome!
To learn more about how you can help, please call the arboretum at 908-350-7383 or email the Giving Garden at [email protected].

Wagner Farm Arboretum Foundation (WFAF) was selected as the beneficiary of STOP & SHOP'S COMMUNITY BAG PROGRAM for the month of May, 2022, in the Berkeley Heights location.
STOP & SHOP in Berkeley Heights will donate $1.00 to WFAF for every reusable bag sold at this location in May.
We couldn't have had more perfect timing with this program because N.J. will require grocery store shoppers to bring their own reusable bags starting May 4th. If you need to purchase bags for your shopping use, please consider purchasing at STOP & SHOP in Berkeley Heights and supporting the arboretum at the same time.
As always, we thank you for your support of Wagner Farm Arboretum.
