I recently had a phone call with a client who complimented me on my talent and thanked me profusely for booking them. I had a huge reflection after that phone call.
People often tell me how "talented" I am, or thank me for the hard "work" I put into these sculptures and sandcastle classes. Honestly, those words have always felt a little off to me. Whenever a client says "thank you," it almost feels silly—because my heart is already so full and overflowing with gratitude just for the opportunity to do this.
To me, teaching and shaping sand isn't work—it’s pure passion, joy, and a deep love for creating magic right on our emerald coast shorelines. And it certainly isn't just about "talent." When a client trusts me to teach or build a sculpture, I don’t view it as a job.
It is an absolute honor and a privilege.
I get to stand as a keeper of sacred moments and memories, helping families and friends translate their connections with each other into temporary art that marks some of the most memorable experiences and moments they'll ever have.
To everyone who invites me into your lives to co-create these memories: thank you.
Being part of your joy is the greatest gift in the world. 🌊❤️
