The prototype pair of my new earring design concept is done. Some improvements / refinements are already underway in the next batch. But the exciting aspect in this new world of inaccessible silver prices is that there is only 2 grams of silver in one pair of these earrings! YES! It’s a good year for woven colored wire earrings!

This week’s FRIDAY FEATURE:

Electric Blue

“Electric Blue” is a small sculptural wire vessel with a big blue personality. Three different vivid blue colored wires are woven together to create softly blended vertical stripes.

This piece is woven completely by hand. The shape was formed as the weaving progressed. It is woven with fine gauge colored copper wire and colored silver-plated wire.

I love the slow process of my basketry work – slow building. I wish I could show the process along with the finished piece, because for me it is a significant part of the whole.
