I quit my full-time job at the end of August to give my business and the artists I service the creativity it’s deserved the whole time.
Here’s what September looked like. >>>>>>
For years, I built this around a full-time job.
Before work. After work. On weekends.
This was the first month it got more than whatever energy I had left.
Consultations. Creative discover calls. Reviews. Follow ups.
I listened to what artists are making, what matters to them, and what they need help bringing to life.
I listened to demos. Studied lyrics. Built mood boards and client presentations, exploring colors, wardrobe, locations, and sets.
Some of my favorite work this month is still in development. You’ll meet it when it’s ready!
Shot lists. Storyboards. Location research. Lighting, materials, timing and logistics.
There were a lot of “what if we just…?”
Followed by “Okay, now how do we make that happen?”
A piano. A cabin in the Berkeley Hills, and a story about the bravery of loving someone.
Together we created cover imagery, promotional photos and music videos for ✨ Quintessence ✨ release of “Maple Love”.
ChristopherAlexanderMusic and I filmed beautiful sunset views of the Bay for his original song Soaring Sunsets 🌅
One of my favorite parts of working with an artist over time: seeing all the labor and love come together to create a cinematic world. Each session gives us something new to build on.
I planned and filmed a content session for Used to Be Valentines as we prepared for the release of our deluxe album: “The Good Years: Growing Pains”.
Not the easiest thing to do when you need to be in half the content. We had a baseball field, two bandmates and lots of coordination.
Being an artist means I know how weird it can feel to perform to a lens, while simultaneously knowing how much it matters to look at the footage and think: “Yeah, that feels like us.”
That experience comes with me when I create for other musicians.
It’s not always just photo or video editing. Sometimes it’s graphic design and figuring out how other branding elements like typeface and color make a brand feel cohesive.
I fully designed Used to Be Valentines album cover and back cover
