💚 I have an idea… and I want to see just how creative we can get with it.

Everything is expensive right now, but here’s the thing—we’re surrounded by people who are incredibly talented and have something valuable to offer.

So what if instead of always reaching for our wallets, we started reaching for our skills, businesses, talents and creativity?

I want to start an outside-the-box barter movement. 🔄

Not just “I’ll trade you a service for a service.” That’s too easy.

I want us to come up with trades that people DON’T normally do.

Maybe a photographer needs Botox.
Maybe a contractor’s wife wants filler. 😂
Maybe a restaurant owner needs family pictures.
Maybe a hairstylist needs her car detailed.
Maybe somebody grows beef, builds furniture, makes signs, plans vacations, owns an Airbnb, does landscaping, bakes cakes, teaches lessons, fixes things, creates things—or has some completely RANDOM skill someone else needs.

Money isn’t the only thing that has value.

Your time has value.
Your talent has value.
Your knowledge has value.
What you create has value.

What if we could save money, support each other, build relationships AND keep doing what we love?

So here’s my challenge:

Let’s talk about it! ☺️

Recently we had a sweet girl come in due to some major irritation and possible rejection on a navel piercing because a piercer was out of metal jewelry but had plastic available. This girl obviously was not aware of the risks or why that is not acceptable jewelry to use for a fresh piercing, but the piercer should have. We got it changed, cleaned up, and then discovered she was not given any aftercare instructions.

The proper sterilization procedure is to run them through an ultrasonic (if necessary), individually package them in autoclave pouches, then run them through the autoclave and keep track of all their sterilization for anyone to see if they wish to. An autoclave gets extremely hot, and plastic WILL melt, therefore it CANNOT be 100% properly sterilized. Plastic also loses its durability and strength over time, causing bacteria to get trapped, and complicate your healing process. This is not something any client should be expected to know, but should be BARE minimum for a professional piercer to know.

If you want or need plastic jewelry, please know it is meant to be a spacer and be temporary, and should never be used for a fresh/still healing piercing unless absolutely necessary and should be changed back to the original metal piercing afterwards. They are perfect for medical purposes, job purposes, and a great placeholder if you like to take your jewelry out to clean them! Otherwise, unless instructed otherwise by a trusted professional piercer, please stick to the safe metal!

Let’s talk about the symmetrical nostril piercing!

✅Truth: All faces are Asymmetrical! ✅With that being said, remember to give your piercer some grace as they go to work on mapping, dotting, and re-dotting your nose. We can achieve the symmetrical effect, but with all faces, especially this sweet girl who has a deviated septum, we can’t just rely on measurements to give you that desired look.
❌False: using geometric coordinates will guarantee a symmetrical nostril piercing ❌As shown in this photo and previously mentioned, this client has a deviated septum. I used geometric measurements to map out the initial dots, and while they were evenly placed, they did NOT look symmetrical on her face. While measurements are definitely a great assist, I had to map it with my eyes and move one side closer to her face in order to achieve the even look.

A few key points to think about/remember if you want or have symmetrical nostril piercings:
- swelling is common!! 99% of the time, if it looks SLIGHTLY uneven, there is a very strong possibility it is just from the swelling and will fall back in place once the swelling has passed. If it is very noticeably uneven, then that is most likely due to uneven markings and should be redone once it’s safe to do so.
- you are getting double piercings, which means double healing, double aftercare, & most of the time a longer healing process. Give your body grace, follow aftercare instructions, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your reputable piercers for reminders or advice! And most importantly, PLEASE do not prematurely change your jewelry! Nose cartilage can take a while to heal even if the surface feels good and healed. Wait the recommended amount of time, and if you’re still unsure, let your piercer take a look!
