Founded as a non-profit, non-discriminatory 501(c)3 organization, VBT has as its mission involving and enriching Victoria and the surrounding communities through innovative dance and educational programs. VBT is comprised of local dancers age ten through adult who are selected from a yearly audition held each spring. Victoria Ballet Theatre continues to present excellence in dance by training loca
l talent to higher levels of technical and artistic ability, and by collaboration with internationally acclaimed guest artists, choreographers and master teachers. Beginning in 1984, the company staged a full-length production of “Swan Lake” in Riverside Park. Since that first endeavor, Victoria Ballet Theatre has continued to present “The Nutcracker,” an annual holiday tradition, as well as numerous classical and contemporary works. The company’s repertory includes many favorites such as, “The Red Shoes,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Gaite Parisienne,” “Don Quixote Suite,” “The Firebird,” “La Fille Mal Gardee,” and of course “Swan Lake.”
