On September 10 2021 By boss, Ron Golnick, and myself flew to Indianapolis for a large sales presentation. We got in late grabbed a rental car from the lot and drove to the hotel without ever seeing a representative. The next morning we were up early and as we headed to the meeting we noticed people gathering around watching the news. A plane had just hit the first tower. As we were leaving we see a second plane hit and we weren't sure what we just saw, but we had to leave. As we get to the company we were scheduled to present to and start our presentation a woman runs in and tells all of us the pentagon had been hit. That's when I stated we were under attack. We all packed up our things and headed back to the hotel and watched in disbelief as the day unfolded. After making a few phone calls it was clear we weren't flying back to Denver anytime soon so we packed up our Ford Focus and stole it. We drove 2 days across this amazing country back to the Denver Airport meeting great Americans along the way. Once we Got back to the Rental car area in Denver we realized not only were we the only ones not trying to rent a car, but we were the only ones with a Stolen rental car from the Indianapolis Airport with no paperwork trying to return one. The lady on the otherside of the counter checked her computer and found no record on us ever renting a car. After a few minutes she took the keys shook her head and said thanks for bringing it to us. For what was a brief time we came together as a country.

~Jack opened one eye, then the other. The early morning sun was blinding, his head pounding from dehydration caused by the night before. As he squinted in pain a large shadow blocked out the sun. The shadow seemed to be getting closer, but Jack’s eyes couldn’t focus. All of a sudden a giant wet tongue licked his face. Jack je**ed back flailing his arms at his attacker, hitting his head on something hard. Before Jack could fully grasp what was happening he heard a man’s voice call…

“Hugo! Get over here! Leave him alone!” and the giant black Great Dane grabbed his tennis ball and sprinted away splashing drool as he ran.

Jack rubbed the back of his head as he stood up. Confused, he looked around studying his surroundings. Jack was in the middle of Colonial Park, Savannah’s oldest cemetery. The Old Cemetery opened for business in 1750 and today is used as a dog park by the locals with several water bowls scattered throughout the mossy oaks and the headstones of Revolutionary and Civil War hero’s.

As Jack watched the giant dog run back to his owners he noticed they had their phones out and were recording the whole thing.

Jack looked down and realized he was only wearing a kilt. No shirt, no shoes and to his disappointment, unlike the Irish drinking song “The Scotsman’s Kilt”, no blue ribbon.
