Small Hands Big Creations Sensory Play Experiences for little ones

05/29/2026

It’s not ALWAYS sunshine and rainbows…

Sometimes it’s sensory bin rice covering my floor…

But then I see how excited and focused my kids get. It gives them a chance to connect, calm down if needed, and learn to share! And sometimes mom joins them too 😉

That’s why I love sensory play so much both at home and inside my classes.

These little moments feel ordinary while we’re in them, but I have a feeling they’re the things we’ll ache to relive someday 🤍

Some of the best play moments come from the simplest setups.

I remember my mom giving my kids measuring spoons and cups to play with and whether it was on the kitchen floor or in the bath they always chose those over half their toys!

There’s just something about real household items that keeps little ones so engaged.

These simple sensory ideas are easy, low pressure, and use things you probably already have at home.

And if you want the sensory fun without the setup and cleanup afterward… that’s exactly why my classes exist 🫶

Save this for your next long afternoon at home 🤍

All jokes aside, sensory play and crafts at home genuinely matter. Fine motor skills, language development, creativity, it’s how kids get ready for the world.

But most days it can feel like being the activity director, the clean-up crew, and the one missing the moment all at the same time.

Sensory play matters. Being present matters. But so does you actually enjoying it. Not rushing to set it up. Not thinking about the mess while they’re playing. Just being there, watching them learn, and laughing with them.

That’s where I come in. I plan everything, buy the materials, and clean up. You just show up.

And If you’ve ever thought, “Why does this feel harder than it should?” You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just doing it alone.

Join us for a class this Saturday! We’d love to have you 💛

Rainy days can go one of two ways…

loud, chaotic, and endless snack requests OR slow, contained, and surprisingly peaceful.

Save this moon sand recipe for the second one!

It’s one of my go-to sensory setups when I need my children engaged…and I need my nervous system to exhale for a minute with my coffee still warm.

Moon Sand Recipe:
✨4 cups all-purpose flour
✨½ cup vegetable oil
✨A few drops of food coloring

Mix until soft, squishy, and moldable.

Simple ingredients and a big impact on the energy of the day!

Mom brain moment over here 🙈

I had to fix one of the class dates, so here’s the updated flyer with all the correct details.

Everything else is the same, I can’t wait to craft, play, and explore with you and your littles!

✨Save this post so you have the updated details ✨

A quick, low-prep game that gets kids moving while they learn colors and shapes.

1. Fill an old sock with rice or beans and tie it closed to make a bean bag. (Optional: decorate it.)

2. Cut out large paper shapes (circles, squares, triangles) and color them in different colors.

3. Spread the shapes on the floor or grass and stand a few steps back.

4. Choose one person to call out a color, a shape, or both (example: “Blue circle!”).

5. Toss the bean bag and try to land it on the correct shape.

6. Take turns being the caller and the thrower.

Optional challenge: balance the bean bag on your head and walk to the correct shape without dropping it.

Once you’ve tried this activity at home, let us know how it went (and share a pic if you can!)

Last time I tried a ‘simple craft’ at home, I remember standing there thinking, this is going to be so cute!

And then 10 minutes later, my kiddos were done.
But I was still looking at the mess and the supplies and all the effort it took to even get there 😵‍💫

And I just thought, why does this feel like so much work for so little time?

That’s exactly why I created my classes. You don’t plan it. You don’t shop for it. You don’t clean it up. You just walk in and actually enjoy it while it’s happening.

If less stress and mess on your end sounds like something you’re wanting, come join our class this Saturday to see what it’s all about!

Sensory play is doing a lot more than it looks like.

Those little scoops, pours, and squishes are building skills they’ll use for writing, problem solving, and independence later on.

And it also gives you a chance to slow down and really watch how they learn.

We have two classes left in March. Sign up today in the link in our bio!
