Lessons learned: replacing veneer is a specialty. I tried it and well, I learned I’m not good at it, so won’t attempt again 😂 I love this piece, it is in our living room as it would be hidden in our bedroom.

Second thing I learned, old veneer glue does have a “life expectancy” and once it enters “the spirit world” you must watch it carefully and glue to keep it from peeling up or replace it.

I’ll keep this piece until we move, then it will become a project piece for the next person.

I Repurposed a vintage wood ladder (I love the metal “bracket & pulley” at the top) - now it’s my first Quilt Rack. 🥰 Found it at Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage a few weeks back. Anyone know what the metal parts are actually called?

Vintage 1930-1940’s metal swim/gym lockers. I thought it would be simple to clean and mitigate the rust, dirt, etc. well, that definitely wasn’t the case. BUT I’m keeping them, as I love the finished piece, even with bits of rust on the baskets.

Trying to figure out walnut veneer. I was “gifted” a beautiful 1950’s dresser that I stored in my garage as the veneers on the sides were damaged (for years) today I tackled it!

Yesterday I added a bit of heat & the veneer just peeled off without much effort 👍🏼 the 75 year old glue gave up! I sanded the old glue off, added new glue a new piece of walnut veneer (love walnut) and now it’s drying/curing 🤞🏼 it works.

What I learned: READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE GLUE FIRST! Omg. So the other side of the dresser was so much easier…
