Come try out our salsa classes for FREE! This is a September ONLY special!

Ever wanted to learn how to dance salsa? Want something fun to do on Wednesday nights? Come to our salsa lessons on Wednesday nights in September at 7:30 at the Boys & Girls Club in Valpo (on Evans Ave)!

Our class this month will be beginner-friendly, so you can jump in any week (or just join us every week)! 💃Valpo Salsa Dancing is a social group that celebrates community and Latin dance in Valpo.

We’re excited to welcome new friends this month, which is why our classes are completely free for first-time friends!

Here are some FAQs about our classes:

Do I need to have a partner to come?
No, you can come by yourself or with a partner! We rotate partners during class so you will dance with multiple people.

How long will the class be?
From 7:30-8:30pm on Wednesdays!

What time do classes start?
Typically we have separate beginner classes and intermediate classes, but for September we are combining into just one group that will meet at 7:30! In other months (NOT September), we have a beginner class at 7 and an intermediate class at 8.

Will there be time for social dancing?
YES! Once class ends at 8:30, we will have 1 1/2 hours of music playing to practice those new moves 🕺 it’s completely optional but fun to dance and make new friends!

Do I need to bring dance shoes?
You can wear whatever shoes you are comfortable moving around in! Some people wear dance shoes, but most wear sneakers or something comfortable for being on your feet.

How much does class normally cost (outside of September)?
Class normally costs $20 per person per MONTH! Classes are always free to college students.

We are mixing it up for September! 3 big announcements:

1. There will be NO CLASSES on September 2! We are taking a break this coming Wednesday only. We will kick off salsa month officially on September 9!

2. For September ONLY, classes will be FREE for all first-time dancers! We want to get the word out to more people and grow our classes, so we are holding a special promotion for September for anyone who wants to come try us out for the first time. Spread the word and invite your friends!

3. For September, we will not be having separate beginner and intermediate classes - we will have 1 combined class together, taught by John, from 7:30-8:30! Please don’t show up at 7 or 8 😂 everyone can come at 7:30 each week from Sept 9 through Sept 30 to dance with old and new friends! We will still have time for social dancing after the class ends at 8:30. We sill still be at the Boys & Girls Club in Valpo.

TONIGHT is the last night of rueda month! Here’s the video from the 8pm intermediate class last week.

Tonight, the 7pm beginner class is covering multiple moves from the caída position. (Check the comments for more details on this)

The 8pm intermediate class will be covering Evelyn, paséala, Coca-Cola, and putting everything together for La Jenny if there’s time. See you guys soon! 💃

Here’s our rueda beginner class teacher, Taylor, with some advice about Rueda Month (May)!

Next Wednesday (May 6) will be our first day of Rueda Month! Join Taylor and John as they teach the Beginner (7p) and Intermediate (8p) classes!!

All are welcome! We will be taking it slow the first couple of weeks and building on more vocabulary the rest of the month. If you’re a beginner, we recommend starting by coming on May 6 to get a solid foundation into rueda!

Dates: Wednesdays in May
Times: Beginner rueda (7pm) and Intermediate rueda (8pm)
Location: Valpo City Ballroom
Cost: $10 per person for the month!

Hey friends! There’s road construction on calumet, an the only way to access the studio parking lot is to come in from the south. If you come in by Casey’s, you’ll be able to get into the parking lot!
