We wanted to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all of your kind words, and heartfelt support this week. It meant so much to celebrate our last day of business with each and every one of you.

Many of you asked if there is anything that could be done to keep James Games alive, and we just want you to know that we worked very hard to keep the business going. Having to close for 12 months with no assurance if, or when, we would be able re-open made it difficult to sustain our business. Unfortunately, our landlord was unwilling to provide any support to us during this time.

We are grateful that so many of you were able to stop by and apologize for the short notice. We posted on Facebook a few hours after we made the difficult decision to shut our doors for the final time.

Thank you all for sharing your stories of what James Games meant to you, your families and friends. It was my vision to create a fun, safe environment and build a community in a city I adore. Each of you helped make this vision a reality. Feel free to continue to use this page as a place to share your stories, memories or just say hi. Be safe and be well. Love you all.

It’s with a heavy heart that we are saying goodbye and closing James Games on March 31, 2021. James Games was started by James Degner in 1978 (in case you are wondering where the name James Games came from) and when I took over in March of 1982, he was such a wonderful man that we kept his name. Over the years, despite regularly sitting in hours of southern California traffic to get to the arcade, despite fierce competition and economic ups and downs, I was always motivated to come to work and do everything I could to keep the place alive, so that you all had a place to come, play games, socialize and enjoy each other. Seeing all of you enjoy playing games, laughing and the smiles on your faces made every bit of hard work needed to keep James Games operational through all these years rewarding.

It has been an amazing journey and it has been my privilege to serve and be part of the Upland community for the past 40 years. I am grateful to all of our patrons, all of my employees throughout the years, and the amazing Upland police force that has kept us safe.

I have so many fond memories and have derived the greatest pleasure from watching you grow up, start your own families, and then bring your kids to the arcade. From Asteroids, to Street Fighters, to Initial Ds, to Maximum Tunes, to the amazing tournaments, I have enjoyed every minute of it. I am so sad to be saying goodbye and will miss you all. After 40 years of getting to know all of you, there are too many of you to say good-bye to individually, so everyone who reads this, and everyone whose life was touched by James Games, please know I am grateful to you all and am saying good-bye with a heavy heart.

On Saturday, March 27, 2021, you are welcome to stop by to say hello from 10AM to 4PM. Please bring your mask with you. We will also have games for sale for anyone who is interested. I hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you.

Hello JG fam 👾 In response to the latest orders by the state, we will be temporarily closing our floor effective immediately to do our part in stopping the spread of Covid-19. We will continue to keep you updated via our FB page, in the meantime please do your part by staying safe and healthy! 🙏

We have some good news gamers! We’re turning up the cruise control and re-opening our doors this Tuesday (6/16) from 11:30am-1am! 😆Normal business hours will resume. We’ll have a sanitation station set-up to keep y’all safe, just bring your mask and respect social distancing guidelines. Game on!!🤘🏽

We just wanted to provide an update that unfortunately James Games will remain closed until at least April 15, to stay in compliance with our city ordinances. We will continue to keep you updated via or FB community and wish you all health and safety during this time🙏✨
