As many of you know, my work and my teaching have always been strongly connected to classic 3D hairstyling — clean structure, precise direction, beautiful balance, and controlled lines.
This look, created by me during a hands-on class of very talented stylist Antonina Ilchenko , was almost the complete opposite of what my hands are used to doing.
And that was exactly the challenge.
When your muscle memory has been trained for years to create clean, polished, “correct” lines, it is surprisingly difficult to tell your hands to forget all of that and start working differently — with straighter, looser, more imperfect, more effortless and unpredictable lines.
Modern styles like this can look as if you simply twisted the hair a few times and finished the whole look in five minutes.
But creating something that looks truly effortless is often much harder than creating something perfectly structured.
The hardest part is making those “imperfect” lines feel intentional, balanced, modern and beautiful — without making the hairstyle look overworked.
This class was such a good reminder for me that sometimes growth means stepping away from what your hands already know so well and teaching them a completely new language.
