Testimony Tuesday! 🌟💕☺
Above the Clouds is thankful for our Administrative Assistant, Deborah McCrary.
"From helping excited parents with registration and checking youths into class, to watching them gain confidence and skills over each semester, my experience working at Above the Clouds has been very rewarding.
My passion for working with youth stems from my childhood. As I look back I can see the results of various activities such as art, piano class, martial arts, youth groups and summer clubs in my life today.
My parents prioritized our participation in such events because they not only recognised and grew our talents while keeping us out of the negative aspects of street life, but improved our self-confidence, presented us with other opportunities, provided safe and healthy outlets for emotions, and created connections.
As I think about friends who did not have the same opportunities and observe youth I see now, I notice the same patterns. Children who are not encouraged or provided with opportunities to grow in talent or develop positive interests often fall victim to the negative impacts of street life. It saddens me to see so many youth with so much latent talent end up hopeless, drugged out, in jail, or dead.
My passion for working has come from recognising this problem and wanting to be part of the solution. Just like consistent care will cause a plant to grow, opportunity and consistent encouragement will cause a child to blossom, grow, and thrive."
