🌿I have been working with plants since I was a little girl puttering around in my dad's vegetable garden.
🎨Since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I have loved to make and create art, even selling prints
of my work here and there throughout my high school and college years. I meandered away from drawing and painting to pursue a career in horticulture, but found my way back to it in my 30's while working as a Stay at Home Mom. in Horticulture, Iowa State University
When I started college, I found that Horticulture was the best way for me to fuse my interests and passions for art, design, and nature.

Public Gardens:
I have worked as a professional horticulturist at world renowned public gardens
🌿Conservatory Intern, Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania,
🌿Senior Horticulturist, Education Greenhouses, Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois. Working in these places with so many talented designers and horticulturists allowed me to use flowering plants and foliages of infinite varieties as my color palette, weaving them together to form displays that inspired not only me, but all those who took time to enjoy them.
🌷Cut Flowers, Farming, and Floristry:
After my years spent working in public gardens, my husband and I moved back to Iowa and farmed with his family, where he and I had the opportunity to work with a few acres of land to grow cut flowers.
🌷We grew, picked, and designed bouquets to sell at the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market for 7 years, bouquet subscriptions, floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, special occasions, had a cooler at our local grocer, sold flowers in bulk to area florists, and even Whole Foods Market in Omaha.
🌷I also sold dried flower wreaths through my on farm flower shop and my first website. Throughout that time, I took thousands of photos of our crops, many of which inspire my art today. HOW MARIE STEPHENS ART WAS BORN:
🎨I have always loved art and being creative, so horticulture and floristry were a perfect fit for me, until I decided to be a mom who wanted to stay at home with her family. So I came back to art!
🎨Creating and selling art online has been the perfect outlet for me to share my love for nature and art. It thrills me to see my photography, and art travel all over the United States!
