Artists of Palm Beach County Artists of Palm Beach County is a non profit 501c organization dedicated to helping member artists a We are a home for these artists.
(4)

We recognize that artists often face difficulties in having proper resources to practice and produce their art, to learn and expand their skills, and to feel that their art is recognized and appreciated. A place where they can access resources, expand their skills, be inspired, share their art, and help each other prosper. Most importantly, we want to facilitate and enable the youth in our commun

ity to embrace the study and practice of all that is art. Our Certificate of Solicitation allows us to pursue tax-deductible donations to generate scholarship money, which we use to award scholarships to local students who show outstanding achievements in the visual arts and to offer educational programs, opportunities, and experiences to the community. We strongly believe that art in all its forms serves a public purpose and can enhance community well being.

He is as comfortable with the latest digital technology as he is with the silver gelatin analogue world, utilizing multiple camera formats in his fine art projects from homemade Polaroid pinhole cameras to 8×10 large format view cameras.

May's Art Salon
Our guest speaker for the May 22 Art Salon will feature plein air artist and teacher Ralph Papa. The salon will be held at the Palm Beach Gardens Library at 11303 Campus Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410. Meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

Ralph Papa has been drawing and painting since childhood in New York City's East Harlem. Primarily self taught, in his twenties he studied art and architecture at Queens College and CCNY and painted at the Art Students League.

Papa's works range from studio paintings using real and imagined themes, to figurative, portraits and plein air painting. Many of his studio works are larger than life pensive faces. Beginning in the mid 1980's, he painted on-location in New York's Hudson Valley and Long Island Hamptons and later in Palm Beach County Florida. The subjects of his paintings are often from nature, life experiences and personal reflections of family and friends. Most recent works are plein air landscapes and studio paintings of imaginative compositions that visually link to artists he very much admires.

Ralph Papa paints in New York and Southeast Florida and teaches drawing and painting in Palm Beach County at Old School Square in Delray Beach, the Boca Raton Museum Art School and Lighthouse ArtCenter at Tequesta. Papa is a co-founder of Plein Air Palm Beach and a Signature Member and Past President of the Artists Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art. His artworks are in public and private collections in the US and Canada. and can be viewed at the Neighborhood Gallery and Artists Guild Gallery in Palm Beach County and on his websites at www.papagallery.com and RalphPapa.com.

April's Art Salon - evey one is invited

The April 17 art salon will feature our very own president, Mary Jane Zapp who will talk about how opportunities open up to art feeding the soul. The salon will be held at the Palm Beach Gardens Library located at 11303 Campus Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, at 6:30 p.m.

Where will your art live? How does it get there? Mary Jane has some suggestions and examples.

Mary Jane fell in love with photography during a snowstorm when she was 8 years old. Growing up in Glen Cove, NY that storm proved to be her entry into the world of photography. Cut off from transportation because of the storm, her father was unable to get to his job. As an amateur photographer himself, and having some time on his hands, he pulled his box camera and developing equipment out of the attic and created a darkroom in the bathroom.

Spellbound by watching the process of her dad developing photos that they took together in the snow, Mary Jane found it magical. Watching images come to life by moving them around in a solution got her hooked! She continually seeks to reproduce that moment of fascination seen through a lens. Be it long exposure night scenes or black and white suspensions of time, her aim is to tell a story using the real world as her canvas.

Mary Jane participated in the documentary film, “Voices Beyond the Wall”, about the orphan poets of Honduras. She also took the photos for a book of poetry written by the same students, “Counting Time Like People Count Stars”. The celebrated book and film gained worldwide attention and remain available on Amazon.

In addition to numerous solo shows, Mary Jane has won several awards for her photographs. Her work has been published in print worldwide. She has been a featured artist in several fundraisers for cancer treatment centers, 12 step programs, and other charities.

To enroll in the art salon, return this email indicating "YES". Art Salons are free -- please share this opportunity with your friends! And please bring some of your artwork to show us what you have created! This will be a great opportunity to meet and learn from each other.

Questions? just return this email with any questions you might have.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Juan Bernal is an architect, painter and photographer with over 40 years of experience in architectural and interior design. He has been showing his artistic work in both individual and collective shows around the world. His work can be found in international museums, within important collections and galleries on a rotating basis throughout the year.

Juan will be talking about his artistic journey, the origin of his love for nature, why he creates, and the importance of preserving nature.

His work constitutes an alarm to us all to preserve the environment that we are part of and we are relentlessly destroying, and without which we could not survive….

Our very existence depends on the health of our planet.

Art Salon, February 27
The February 27, 2023 art salon will feature one of our very own members, Juan Bernal. The salon will be held at the Palm Beach Gardens Library at 6:30 p.m. The Library is located at: 11303 Campus Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.

Juan Bernal is an architect, interior designer, painter and photographer with over 40 years of experience. He has been showing his artistic work in both individual and collective shows around the world.

Juan says, “my paintings are about the beauty of nature and the importance of simple things; elements of nature that we usually take for granted, and whose beauty we don’t take time to observe, like a fragment of a leaf, a flower, or the way light is reflected as it strikes a drop of dew. These themes are recreated making emphasis in the geometry of nature’s designs. It is the complexity within the simplicity.

His work constitutes an alarm to us all to preserve the environment of which we are part and we are relentlessly destroying, but without which we could not survive….

Please respond to this email to reserve your place at the Art Salon. The focus of the Art Salon is to learn, share, and inspire artists on our artists journeys. We encourage your participation and can’t wait to see what you are creating.

IMPORTANT CHANGE! Member’s Show Change of Location and Dates

Artists of Palm Beach County,

APBC is revising the Call to Artists their Feb Annual Members Show!

The venue has changed, as we have been provided a great new opportunity! Also please note dates have changed! This is a little complicated so if you are confused, please text Mary Jane at 561-308-6992 and she will help you understand this opportunity. We are striving to make this change as easy as possible, and truly believe that this is the best choice for our members and guests.

APBC is excited to announce that a new venue has become available to us. The owners of a private estate in Northwood Shores have invited us to have our Annual member’s Show in their Villa at 211 30th Street, just off Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach. We will be exhibiting mainly in the Guest House and the Cabana House, with additional opportunities to exhibit on the grounds and on easels in the main house.

The Villa is an historic 1923 Mizner style estate featuring a lush tropical atmosphere mixed with antiques, garden fountains, koi pond, beauty and tranquility. The owners are generously allowing us to share this space for our artwork and show for the month of February.

The new dates are

Drop off: Wednesday Feb 1, 2023.

Hours 9 am- 11 am at the venue 211 30th St West Palm Beach.
Show Opening Reception: Saturday Feb 4th, 4pm- 8pm (VIP entry 3pm)

Last night Mary Jane Zapp, Carole Pichney, Deborah Fairchild, and Maxine Schreiber took part in Lake Park's Eggstravaganza as volunteers for the Lake Park Diversity and Inclusion Council. We had a fun time handing out coloring books, crayons, and eggs filled with candy. Karen in pink and police officer Adam are also part of the Diversity group and of course the Easter bunny!
