Know your worth!
A violinist played for 45 minutes in the New York subway. A handful of people stopped, a couple clapped, and the violinist raised about $30 in tips.
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.
Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out a Boston theatre, and the seats averaged about $100.
The experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued.
There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow.
Your gut is telling you something. Listen to it if it’s telling you where you are isn’t enough!
Go where you are appreciated and valued.

Learn the joys of mixed media collage during this 2-day workshop!
October 15-16, 2022
Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm
$300 members | $350 for non-members
Some supplies and lunch included
Work with papers, fabrics, found objects, past art work, pencil and charcoal drawing, and acrylic painting. Learn the fundamentals of collage on the first day and then spend the second day drawing and painting over those collages. Each student can work on whatever style project from faces, figures, and landscapes to still lifes and abstracts - there are no set rules in this workshop!
The objective of the workshop is to explore new mixed media techniques and excavate each student's authentic voice in their art. All levels are welcomed!

"Christine Peloquin is a 2-D mixed media artist who draws, and paints faces, figures, landscapes and abstracts over collage. She uses many different materials including charcoal, oils, acrylics, watercolors, monoprints, found objects, photo transfers, fabrics and papers on wood panels. She is always pushing the norms of conventional techniques and finding new combinations of classical methods of creating. “My intention is to weave an autobiographical tapestry invoking and addressing issues of womanhood, spirituality, sexuality, motherhood and self-awareness.” Christine has been a resident of Florida since 1986 and calls Sorrento home."

This is all the information I could find: In preparation for returning to some sense of 'normal' we have re-scheduled a multi-day mixed workshop with mixed media artist Christine Peloquin for November 2021 (from November 2020). Can you direct me to a place where I can get more information about the workshop?
Although it has been nearly a year, we are still so grateful for our beautiful newly remodeled Children's Library.
