Locked Aperture had great representation at The Murphy Center this week at First Friday. As we continue to accept new members into the Collective, we will be updating all of you on the progress of current members. Wesley's work had a lot of interest. We are reaching out to galleries and hopefully will have a presence there next month with another artist. We will keep you all informed here, on Instagram, and on Twitter. We are making moves in 2022.

Exciting News!! Wesley Montgomery-Bell will be featured at The Murphy Arts Center in Fountain Square for 2022's First Friday Event. The date is Friday January 7th, 2022 between 6pm-10pm. Still looking for Artists to get in on the founding level of Locked Aperture Artists Collective. There are many perks to being a member. Have someone reach out to galleries for you and when the Collective gallery becomes a thing, will be vetted in to have solo shows and first pick on gallery spots. Attention Indiana Artists. We are looking for new members for The Locked Aperture Artists Collective. Are you an artist that is struggling to break into the art world? Would you be interested in building a community for yourself and others? Are you needing other artists to collaborate with? Well that’s where we come in. We are a dedicated group of artists that are here to help you build your name, get your work out there and try to achieve the success you want to achieve. Right now we are looking for artists to come in (any medium is allowed) that want to be on the base level of something potentially great. The idea is that over time we can build the community, gather funding (sorry about this, but there will be a slight members fee) to eventually open a makerspace for the collective (there will be rent involved once available). We are also planning on holding events and hopefully have a gallery where our members can display and potentially sell work. Currently we are only accepting members that live in Indiana, and will only be contacting galleries and art fairs in the Indiana region.

Hello. Here is a major update from Wesley Montgomery-Bell. Please share.

As most of you know, I have been trying to do something special and had set a 5 year goal plan back in 2020. We all know most plans that some of us had set either never came to fruition or had to be postponed. Well mine was the latter.

2021 has been a very productive year for me. Locked Aperture Photography is a true business. I have joined SALI (Southside Art League) and been promoting my work with the for most of the year. Back in September, I had a "Featured Artist" show, which was a first for me. During that show I was told of an opportunity to have a booth at the Garfield Autumn Art Fair but I had to be accepted to even have the chance. I submitted the required material and was given a booth. Sadly, I was in the hospital while the fair ran, but had a great volunteer group strep up for the two days. From my understanding, they informed people of my desires of what I want this to become.

Now, I am one to give back to the community when I can. I know first hand how frightening it is to get started in the art community. The long goal is to make Locked Aperture Photography into The Locked Aperture Collective. There will be many different branches under the main name. And depending on the interests that I receive, by the end of 2026 I want to have a Makers Space.

So this post is to send out feelers about getting this project up and running. Any artist of any medium is more than welcome to come along on this journey. As we grow, we will need to set up membership fees and space fees, I honestly wish I could offer it for free but sadly I cannot. But that will be all in due time.

The Collective will be a community where we will share opportunity with each other, help each other, promote each other and guide each other to success. If you are interested or know someone that would be. have them contact me via email at [email protected] or message through FB.

There are many things in the works behind the scenes here. I am working on making sure that 2021 is going to be a year of big moves. First I encourage to follow on Twitter and Instagram for new work. I will be posting new work exclusive to those sites that will not be posted anywhere else on the internet. Next the website address has changed. the new Website is lockedaperture.org I sadly lost the .com domain. I will also have a big announcement in the coming weeks. So stay tuned.

As we move into the end of the year, and to celebrate becoming a taxed business, I am going to start running a promotion at the beginning of December. I will be waiving the sitting fee for the rest of the year. That is $50 dollars off of all photo shoots in December. Book your shoots today!!
