After Hours Concert Series Friday, August 26th at 7 pm Under the Umbrella Sky, Downtown Batesville.

This FREE concert features My Brother's Keeper a Cincinnati based progressive bluegrass band that has played venues all over the country. Please bring your own chair for seating. The After Hours Concert series is sponsored by the Batesville Area Arts Council, the Batesville Memorial Public Library, and the Friends of the Library. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the library.

Tomorrow will be the last student performance at the Wednesday Farmers’ Market under the Batesville Sky.

The BAAC will be sponsoring the Batesville Steel Band and the Gyil Ensemble under the direction of BMS Band Director & General Music teacher, Mr. Casey Reazin. The performance will be held underneath the Umbrella Sky at 4:30 pm.

The Batesville Steel Band is composed of BMS and BHS student musicians who play the steel drums - the tropical instruments of Trinidad and Tobago. The steel drum’s versatility allows the ensemble to perform anything from traditional calypso music to modern day rock, jazz, pop, and even classical!

The Gyil (prounounced “Jee-lee”) Ensemble uses authentic instruments such as the gyil xylophone from Ghana and the djembe drum from Mali to recreate the sounds heard in West African performances. The ensemble covers a wide variety of recent tunes and traditional songs.

Both ensembles have performed around the area and with notable musicians since their formation.

Come to support both student musicians and local farmers and vendors!

Although the student music is coming to a close for the summer, there are still more musical performances scheduled in August:

Saturday, 8/13 - Marisa Fullenkamp performs at the Farmers’ Market, 9-11 am
Friday, 8/26 - My Brother’s Keeper performs at the After Hours Concert (co-sponsored by the BMPL), 7-9 pm

Come shop and listen to some wonderful music!

This Wednesday the Batesville Area Arts Council will be sponsoring student music at the Farmers’ Market. Over 20 students in The Batesville Singers (BHS show choir) will be showcasing their talent under the direction of BCSC’s new choral director, Mr. Daniel Borns. This will be the largest performing group of the year!

The Singers will be at the Farmers’ Market - underneath the Batesville Sky Umbrellas - starting at 5pm this Wednesday, 7/20.

After Hours Concert Series: The Dane Clark Band

BMPL is excited to bring The Dane Clark Band to Batesville on July 9th from 6-8 pm. Dane Clark is an Indiana native who honed his instrumental skills from an early age. For 20 years he has led his own "full blast rock combo" playing in countless venues and opening for several well known bands. In addition to all this, he has played drums in John Mellencamp's band since 1996. Bring your own chair and join us Under the Batesville Sky, Downtown Batesville for this musical treat and hear music from his latest album "Wide Open Hearts." Rain location at the Batesville Library. Sponsored by the BAAC, the Batesville Memorial Public Library, and the Friends of the Library.

This Saturday under Batesville Sky!

Our popular After Hours Concerts are back for the summer thanks to the Batesville Area Arts Council and the Friends of the Batesville Memorial Public Library. The first concert of the series features Mark Gravely & the Top Hats Blues R***e. Bring a lawn chair and join us under the Batesville Sky Project for an evening of Blues music on June 11 at 6 pm. If it rains we will move the concert to the library.
