Like the look of my art but need a certain color palette or size? Just message me! I’m Kristy Evans, a mixed media artist living in Indianola, Iowa, with my writer husband, Al Kratz. I've dabbled in painting since my early 30s but got serious about art after a forced pivot.

Why the change? A midbrain cyst prompted my makeover from English teacher to at-home fledgling artist. It’s been a struggle

at times, but I’ve persevered and learned so much along the way.

Now I’m fixed up with fully restored vision; but, that said, I will never forget the years-long experience that changed my life-- and turned me to a daily art practice.

I've been screen grabbing and trying these sample "recipes" from Malcolm Muronda for some time now and loving their visual presentation. Today I decided it was time to buy the book to keep in the studio for color mixing inspiration!

One thing I love when I'm working on collage is picking up gelli papers in beautiful colors and patterns-- they're almost like fabrics!-- and choosing. "Yes, I'll have that!"

Pretty sure these are going to be two very loved studio books!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Gallery at the Sagewood has received its first sculpture by Sue Cornelison: “Lost in Thought, Found by a Bird.” 🐦💚

We’re completely charmed by the whimsy here—there’s so much personality and playfulness in every detail. That gorgeous green hair, the little bird visitor, the dreamy expression. The kind of piece that brings a smile and reminds us why we love art that celebrates imagination.

We absolutely love that spirit. Come see her in person! And the “Small Batch Selection” exhibit, on display through August. 🙏

What an incredible night! 🎨 Thank you to everyone who came to the reception at The Gallery at the Sagewood! We loved introducing so many new people to this beautiful space and what it has to offer. I was also excited to debut my new piece, “Attitudinal” — a 28x28” gelli paper collage built on canvas with a custom frame.

The work of all 9 summer artists is available for viewing and purchase through August. Here’s to art, community, and Friday night magic! ✨

Today is the day! Bare walls unimpressive? Come see the new artwork! We are so excited to welcome you to our Summer Quarter Artists Reception at the Sagewood’s Gallery from 5–8pm. With the perfect weather for tonight’s shopping, food, live music, and balloon festivities, it is shaping up to be a beautiful evening to be in Downtown Indianola. I have a confession: I have such fun installing stalling art in this space! Because everyone who visits the Gallery at Sagewood has the same reaction. They walk in, look around, and their faces say it all—pure wonder. “Oh! How beautiful!”
