Happy Retirement, Fred!

From all of the staff and board members of ACEDC, we truly appreciate all who came out to honor Fred Kenney's well-deserved retirement! Thank you!

After decades of supporting economic growth and stability throughout not only Addison County but the entire state of Vermont Fred is surely ready for the next chapter in his life.

His devotion and expertise have left a lasting impact on our community, paving the way for Addison County Economic Development to have continued success in supporting our current and future members.

A very gracious thank you to Maple Landmark Woodcraft and Treeline Terrains for creating a beautiful and unique gift for us to show Fred our true admiration.

We'd also like to thank Notte for putting on a great spread and offering exceptional service throughout our celebration. It was a beautiful evening and a great time.

We're officially podcasters 😂
Two of the founders of Treeline Terrains had the chance to share their story on the latest episode of Innova802, a podcast spotlighting Vermont innovators and makers.
They talked entrepreneurship, design, and what it means to build a business rooted in craft. From the beginning at the Middlebury College Snowbowl to the recent sale to Maple Landmark Woodcraft, Jacob and Nathaniel talked through the milestones and challenges along the way. Huge thanks to Ryan and the team for capturing it all so thoughtfully!

We’re thrilled to share some big news from Treeline Terrains:

We’re changing ownership to Maple Landmark Woodcraft in Middlebury, VT to carry the business forward and begin an exciting new chapter!

When three friends (Alex Gemme, Nathaniel Klein, and Jacob Freedman) created our first 3D maps as an art project during college, we never expected our maps to become a business. The first few maps we made were given away as gifts, and so well-received, we thought it might be possible to sell enough maps to cover rent and spend the rest of our time skiing. As our craft grew and we settled into our niche, we partnered with great organizations and stores such as Vermont Adaptive and the REI in Williston, VT to help reach a broader audience.

Today, we’re incredibly proud of the business we built. Treeline Terrains grew into a recognized brand designing custom 3D wooden maps that celebrate memory, place, and craftsmanship.

This change in ownership isn’t a typical acquisition—it’s a collaboration with another Vermont company that shares our love of woodworking and our commitment to quality. Mike Rainville, founder of Maple Landmark, brings over 50 years of experience in wood product manufacturing and has deep roots in Addison County, VT. We couldn’t imagine a better person to help take Treeline Terrains to the next level.

Maple Landmark will assume daily operations, but customers can expect the same attention to quality, design, and personal service, with exciting innovations to come!

To our customers, friends, and community: thank you for supporting us on this incredible journey! We’re proud of what we’ve built, and even more excited about what’s ahead.
