The art fun continues with The Putnam County Arts Alliance and their Paint and Take events. On Tuesday June 16 PCAA is hosting an evening of painting with Dora at The Bixler 108 Event Center. Dora Olson will guide you in painting this adorable Heartland Patriotic Barn. Cost is $35.00 which includes the canvas and all supplies. Go the to. Want to create your own barn quilt? Putnam County Arts Alliance is conducting the second of its June workshops on Saturday afternoon, June 13 at the Bixler 108 Event Center on the West side of the Unionville Square. Patterns and all the supplies plus guidance is provided. Panel sizes availabe and corresponding costs are 12”x12”—$25, 24”x24”—$40 and 48”x48”—$80. SATURDAY MORNING ART ON THE SQUARE:

Each Saturday morning from 8 to 11 in conjunction with Market on the Square The Putnam County Arts Alliance hosts family friendly art activities at Studio 104, their art center on the West side of the square

Here is what is coming up.

June 13: Market Memories-Scrapbook page. Polaroid instant cameras
are used to snap a picture of people having fun and enjoying the farmers market (children are always a good subject) and then you, the child or you and the child will use that image to create a scrapbook page. This activity will be led by Kate Petty and Selena Stone

June 20: Watercolor resist painted flag....led by Gwyn Keedy

June 27: Acrylic painted flags...led by Gwyn Keedy

You do not have to register for these events and there is no fee. Just show up at the art center (Studio 104) and have some fun. No prior art experience is required

Feeling the urge to express some of your artistic talent, the Putnam County Arts Alliance has two wonderful opportunities coming up.

SATURDAY JUNE 13.
from 12:15 to 4 pm it’s Barn Quilt painting. The focus is on the mini barn quilt 12’x12” panels similar to what is pictured here. But we have 24”x24” and 48”x48” panels available too if you want to tackle something bigger. PCAA provide all of the materials all you need to do is show up and be ready to create you own barn quilt. PCAA artists will be on hand to get you stated and provide guidance. They also have many designs and patterns to choose from, but they encourage you to use or create your own design. TUESDAY JUNE !6. 5:30 to 7;30 pm
It’s Paint and Take guided painting with Dora Olson of That Paint and Pottery Place. Dora will help you paint an adorable heartland barn adorned with an American Flag. See accompanying picture. Agains details are available under the events tab of this FB page

Both of these events will be held at The Bixler 108 Event Center at 108 S. 18th St (West side of the Square) in Unionville, MO

A few of the barn quilts being painted today at the Putnam County Arts Alliance work shop today. There is still time to join the fun. A second session is being offered next Saturday afternoon. Barn quilts: Large hand-painted squares featuring traditional quilt block designs, serving as public folk art to bring good luck—often displayed on barns, garages and other buildings.

You can paint your own barn quilt this Saturday from 10 am to 4pm at The Bixler 108 Event Center at 108 S. 17th Street (west side of the Square) in Unionville, MO.

Workshop details:
Presented by The Putnam County Arts Alliance
Price: $40 (pay upon arrival) (includes all supplies, including the 2’x2’ aluminum preprimed panel
Date: Saturday Jan. 17, 2026
Time: 10 am to 4 pm with a lunch break (lunch is not provided)

Patterns: The Arts Alliance has preprinted patterns (see pictures with this post) or you can create your own pattern.

The Putnam County Arts Alliance is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts in Putnam County. In addition to the workshops and seminars that they will be presenting, the organization is busy getting ready to open a gallery, retail shop and creative work space at 104 S.16th St. in Unionville. Barn Quilt painting workshop Sat. Jan. 17 from 10 am until 4pm at the Bixler 108 Event Center.
