Portrait image of the Donny S. in Baileys Harbor. From a photography perspective, I knew I wanted to take a top-down drone photo, and the goal was to time it so I could capture a strong shadow of the boat. This gave me the top-down view I was after, while the shadow helped reveal its distinctive tugboat shape.

Capturing the Donny S. from above offers a perspective that's hard to appreciate from the shoreline. The contrast between the rusting vessel and the clear waters of Lake Michigan tell a story of both resilience and abandonment. What was once a working tugboat has become an unexpected landmark, slowly being reclaimed by the elements. Every ship has a story, and sometimes the most compelling are the ones left unfinished.

Here is a timelapse clip I took of the storm that moved through Two Rivers on Sunday. Media reports that the storm included straight-line winds up to 80 mph. It’s devastating to see the loss of so many trees in the area.

This is a photo I took on a recent trip to London. It was one of those times when the strongest part of the photograph wasn’t the subject, but the direction.

What caught my eye was everything pulling toward one destination: the bridge ahead. The buildings help to guide the eye, the people create the motion, and the scene becomes more than just a city photo. It becomes a story about movement, purpose, and perspective.

Direction in photography has a way of quietly leading the viewer exactly where you want them to go.
