Leather detailing! I've officially started in with the pencils on my newest wip. Creating the illusion of burned and tooled leather is going to prove tricky, but I think I'll be able to get the hang of it it before too long. Little bits at a time! But naptime is over, so my art is done for today.

It’s been a minuet since I’ve gotten a chance to stand outside the store and just admire the hard work that we’ve all put in.
I am so very thankful to our vendors who are dedicated this holiday season to stock the store as well as their own inventory for craft shows, I know it’s not easy.
I am thankful to my husband Victor, my manager Ashleigh Miller and Jayla for their hard work this holiday season.

White charcoal.
I’ve loved the few times I’ve worked with white charcoal on black paper. It was a fantastic challenge to work with inverted colors. I would love to pull them out again soon.

‘Noble One’ has officially sold.
It was such an honor to bring this piece to life. I hope it is loved and valued in its new home.

A lesser-known fact about me: I LOVE sparkle. Glitter, diamonds, Christmas decorations coffered in sparkles…so naturally, I had to add some glitter to one of my drawings eventually. This new piece is releasing today, so watch for the drop!

Thankful.
Some years it can seem hard to come up with things to be thankful for. But not this year. I have so many, many things I’m thankful for, and as it approaches a year of building Bryant Barn Handcrafted, my incredible customers and support are in that list. Thank you all for the help you’ve given to my family and I as we’ve pursued this path. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.

October is nearly over, and we’re preparing for the holiday season here at Bryant Barn Handcrafted!
October has been a wonderful lull between the event seasons, and I’m using this time to invest in my husband and three precious littles. As a wife and mother, I’m hoping to be able to spend more time with them moving forward, and because of this, much of our merchandise will be available online on our website and our Etsy shop, as well as in-person at Canyon Rim Crafts and Boutique in the Magic Valley Mall. The beginning of the end has hit Idaho, in a sense. The cold has come to Twin Falls, and in a matter of a day, the weather consistently went from 70s to 50s. Fall has properly hit, leaning toward winter, with wind and rain and then more wind. And it has me dreaming about sand and sunlight. Don’t get me wrong: I’m excited about the holiday season. I’m ready for the cooler temperatures and the sweaters and the candles. But a little piece of me is certainly thinking of shell-hunting on Cocoa Beach.

Detail. As a seamstress, this American flag was a super fun project for multiple reasons. I loved adding the stitching, the threads, the folds of the fabric. I sold the original several months ago, and I need to draw another flag soon. 🇺🇸

Autumn always reminds me of the fiddle music in the Ozark mountains. Harvest time would come, and so would the bluegrass. I’d pull my old fiddle out and sit outside, playing away to the birds and the hillside across from our country home.

No matter how many times I look at these feathers, I can never get over how much fun the colors were. Bringing out the iridescence in the tail feathers of this rooster was such a blast. It’s not every day you get to use this much vibrant color.

In flight.
I’ve come to love adding these tiny flocks of birds to my double exposure drawings. One, because it’s such a small detail, you have to search to find it. Two, it adds movement to an otherwise still image. Three, it’s a unique signature style that I’ve always admired. And there is such a freedom in the moment a bird takes flight, it’s become special to me to incorporate it in my art.
