𐓍𐒰𐒿𐒻͘ Thali^, Mvto, Wado, Nia:wen, Thank you to everyone who attend this year’s Rematriation Retreat: Language as Resistance 🫶🏼
Here’s a recap…

DAY 1: We were joined by speakers Shaina Nez, Alicia Smith, Warren Realrider, and Mary Jacobs, who engaged in meaningful discussions after their presentations with attendees. In the evening we had dinner and a show, with comedy from Brent Deo + music by Elisa Harkins! 🎶🎭

DAY 2: Jordan Harmon and Chey Morgan shared knowledge on ‘Activating Community to Oppose Local Data Centers.’ After the panel, we held our barter market, where anyone could trade goods, seeds, services, knowledge, & more! 🌱 Thanks to for hosting us for the first couple days of the retreat!

DAY 3: We gathered at Flyloft for free yoga led by Jessi McEver! 🧘🏻‍♀️ Followed by a Poetry Workshop by Abby Rush and Claire Maracle, and wrapped up the weekend with our closing circle.

To our Words of the people board, our committee members, our volunteers, and our community, thank you for making this possible. ❤️ We’ll be looking back on this April weekend with gratitude, and planning an even better 2027 retreat!

Our April calendar is live! We have a busy month with professional obligations and art markets. We won't have any open studio days this month, but will have a few events towards the end of April. We also hope you will join us at the Words of the People Rematriation Retreat. We will be on a panel with others from 4:30-5:30, with a free community dinner after. We hope to see you at one of the events this month! Don't forget to check out the Mvskoke Art Market on the weekend of the 18th and 19th, many of our artists will be there! When you support local arts, you make a difference in our communities.
