Today, we know The Little Drummer Boy as a Christmas classic, but there wasn’t a drummer at the manger, per the Bible. So how did this fictional drummer get so popular? Written near the end of the Great Depression, during WWII, “The Little Drummer Boy” warmed the hearts of worried Americans. He symbolized their sons, husbands, brothers, dads and loved ones that were away and may not come back.
