Looking for helpful ideas*~

I want to use a tool roll out for my visits. I think it might be cool to roll out a bunch of crazy instruments, they don't have to be used, just look weird with nothing said as it unfurls. You know like Snape's in Harry Potter when he was about to mess with Harry's mind. But I have been perplexed what tools it would actually hold thinking files, dentist tools and pokey things.

So I reimagined a roll out, somewhat like this Christmas placemat, that I could roll out and place the tools that I would really use. I bought decal material and while some of the decals worked I think an open weave placemat was not a good surface to use.

So where I need help is how to go about creating this type of roll out/placemat? Do I use one of these blank placemats without anything on it, it already has the poinsettia in the corner?

I am thinking I simple put the placemat down and set the instruments of inspection on it.

Any ideas?

Tuesdays with Chris~

Ya missed it but just forgot to post. Life up North here can be hectic.

Today as I have a ponder.
What to do when the back of my clipboard box is covered with all the stickers where I have traveled and there is no more room for new cool stickers.
But then when watching Adam Savage's Tested on YouTube the solution hit me when I saw Adam's slate board!

Just keep on putting them on! That way I can enjoy the new stickers I collect! Of course this will eventually get to heavy to tote but then I can get a new clipboard and start over, right? What do you think?

Chris Clinker's Tuesday Stories!*

The inspection of Nessie's Chimney

The air inside the hidden cave at Loch Ness tasted like salt, old soot, and damp earth.

Chris was there on a critical, top-secret mission to ensure this ancient, subterranean Scottish chimney was entirely safe for Santa Claus to climb down on Christmas Eve. It was the cave of Nessie and her children, Ripple and Splash.

Suddenly a loud, low noise vibrated through the stone, and the dark water at the base of the hearth began to ripple. A giant, friendly shadow glided silently past the cave entrance. It was Nessie and her two young children, Ripple and Splash who asked to help with the inspection.

Chris smiled and gave Ripple and Splash their Jr. Inspection badges and put them right to work checking the chimney’s draft by blowing a wee mist to see if it would travel up the chimney. It Did!

"Check the clearance, Ripple," Chris called out, his words echoing in the cavernous cavern. Ripple extended a laser measuring tape, Chris gave them, up the massive stone flue. "We need a minimum five-foot radius for the velvet suit and the toy sack,” Chris echoed.

As Ripple measured Splash echoed back, "Plenty of room sir!" Chris then located the best place for Nessie’s children to leave their lovely seaweed cookies for Santa.

To the excitement of all Chris pulled an official certificate of approval for the chimney, it PASSED!

And with that, Ripple and Splash can sleep quietly Christmas Eve knowing their chimney is ready for Santa’s visit.

Chris headed back to his boat turned and echoed back, “Have a Happy, Happy, Happy Christmas, Christmas”

And they did,
The End

Repaint and a decal, we’ll see if this works. I still might like somebody’s artistic hand at putting something on this, but this will do for now. What do you think?
