For years, I have chase storms the first week of June. This year I had to work. This storm found me today, close to my home in Frisco, TX. Thank you Mother Nature, I really needed this!

This post is dedicated to my nephew Grant Cline. He passed away on June 6, 2025, while pursuing his passion of climbing in his favorite place, Yosemite National Park, he was 18. Grant was a rare star. To quote his obituary, “Shortly after graduation, he set out to follow his dreams, living with purpose, seeking challenge, and embracing the natural world with fearless determination. His heart belonged to the cliffs and peaks of the great outdoors, where he felt most alive.

Grant was adventurous, intelligent, and charismatic - a rare soul with an authentic presence. He was determined and stubborn in all the best ways, grounded in all his interactions, endlessly curious, and remarkably hardworking. He believed deeply in living with intention and making every moment count.”

I drove Grant’s car back to Frisco, Texas from Yosemite, re-tracing his steps and stopping at a few of his favorite places, thinking about him the whole way. A very cathartic experience.

We should all take a lesson from Grant. Live your life with intention and follow your dreams!

Another shot of the Silverton, TX tornado on June 2, 2024. The tornado started to elongate into an elephant trunk before it roped out. What an amazing experience!

Chased this supercell from Tulia, TX where it eventually produced Silverton, TX tornado on June 2, 2024. Love storms with structure!

Chased a supercell around the Palo Duro Canyon starting in Happy, Texas yesterday. I watched this tornado for 20 mins near Silverton, Texas. What an incredible day! thanks for the guidance Bill!

The eclipse in Dallas, TX was amazing to witness. The touch of clouds at totality made it even better for me

Impressive lightning show out my hotel window in Wichita Falls after storm chasing. I used bellows around my lens to minimize reflections and remote trigger to open and close shutter between flashes. Rain on the window was my main obstacle, but really happy being able to capture these. Especially the crawlers! ⚡️⚡️

Glitched fog bow (that’s right) after baseball sized hail from passing supercell, Texas 2018. Yes, the hail on the hot road caused the fog bow. Bet you didn’t think you would read that today?
