Instead of pouring leftover paint down the drain, I often use it to create loose abstract studies like these. Letting the colors drip, pool, blend, and layer has become one of my favorite ways to explore texture and movement without overthinking the outcome.

Eventually most of these will get cut up and turned into bookmarks, gift tags, keychains, and other small functional art pieces. I really enjoy finding ways to give these “in-between” paintings a second life instead of just throwing them away.

Honestly, some of my favorite color combinations happen during experiments like this!

Downtown Tucson friends, I’ll be vending at the Proper Collective Vendor Market on March 28 from 5–9 PM!

This outdoor patio market at brings together local artists, makers, vintage collectors, and small businesses for a relaxed evening of exploring handmade and one of a kind finds.

At the Smebble table, you’ll find handcrafted art, gifts, and wearables created from my original watercolor and mixed media artwork. I’ll be bringing magnets, bookmarks, tote bags, prints, and a few colorful surprises.

Come stroll the patio, discover Tucson makers, and support local creativity.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello at the Oro Valley Spring Festival of the Arts. I always enjoy the chance to connect with the Oro Valley community, and it’s a special feeling any time one of my colorful pieces finds a new home 🫶🏻

I’m also grateful to the organizers and volunteers at Art State Arizona for bringing the festival together, and to Board President Steven Pope for sharing this photo. Like many vendors, I often forget to take pictures, so I truly appreciate it when others capture moments like this.

These events always remind me how much it means when people choose to shop small. Your support means the world to artists and small business owners 💖

If you enjoy seeing original art in person, you'll love exploring the Oro Valley Spring Festival of the Arts.

Here are some of the mixed media pieces I’ll have with me in the Smebble booth this weekend. These works come from my fine art practice at .artist and span several series, from geometric desert landscapes to experimental color studies and layered compositions.

If you’re planning to visit the festival, stop by and take a look. It’s always a different experience seeing the textures, colors, and details up close.
