Buchanan, Grand Bassa County (June 19, 2026)The Grand Bassa County Administration has embarked on a vigorous project assessment tour across Electoral District #5 to evaluate the progress of ongoing development initiatives aimed at improving education and healthcare services in the county.

The assessment team was led by Grand Bassa County Superintendent Hon. Karyou Johnson and included County Development Officer Moses Henry, Administrative Officer James Duen, and other members of the county administration.

During the tour, the delegation visited the ongoing construction of a modern school facility in Blayah Town, a project expected to enhance access to quality education for children within the district and surrounding communities.

The team also inspected the Compound Four Clinic project, where they assessed the level of work completed and engaged stakeholders on the importance of timely project implementation to improve healthcare delivery for residents.

Speaking during the visit, Superintendent Johnson reaffirmed the administration's commitment to ensuring that all county development projects are executed according to approved standards and timelines. Monrovia (June 18, 2026) โ€“ The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in collaboration with the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), announces a downward adjustment in the prices of gasoline (PMS) and fuel oil (AGO), effective June 18, 2026.

Following its regular review of international petroleum market trends and local pricing factors, the Ministry has approved a reduction of US$0.15 per gallon for gasoline (PMS) and US$0.30 per gallon for fuel oil (AGO).

The approved price ceilings are as follows:

1. Gasoline (PMS): Wholesale โ€“ US$4.66; Retail Pump Price โ€“ US$4.94 or L$905.00 per gallon.

2. Fuel Oil (AGO): Wholesale โ€“ US$5.97; Retail Pump Price โ€“ US$6.25 or L$1,145.00 per gallon.

The pricing adjustment is based on the Central Bank of Liberiaโ€™s official exchange rate of L$183.1427 to US$1.00 as of June 15, 2026.

MOCI and LPRC will continue to monitor the petroleum market to ensure strict adherence to the approved prices, prevent unfair trade practices, and maintain a stable supply of petroleum products nationwide.

The Ministry remains committed to protecting consumersโ€™ interests and ensuring a fair, competitive, and transparent marketplace.

Buchanan, (June 18, 2026)โ€“ Grand Bassa County Electoral District Five Representative Alfred Flomo has disclosed that US$210,000 has been allocated in the national budget for the extension of Grand Bassa University in Wee Statutory District.

Speaking on the development, Representative Flomo said the funding was secured with significant support from Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, whom he credited for helping make the project a reality.

According to Flomo, the extension project is intended primarily to strengthen agricultural programs at the university and expand educational opportunities for students in Grand Bassa County and surrounding areas.

He noted that the investment reflects the government's commitment to improving higher education and promoting agricultural development, which remains a key sector of Liberiaโ€™s economy.

Representative Flomo described the allocation as an important step toward enhancing learning facilities and providing students with practical skills that can contribute to national growth and food security.

BUCHANAN, (June 18, 2026) โ€“ Grand Bassa County Education Officer Jefferson Vobah has warned St. Peter Catholic School that it could be shut down if it fails to pay a government-imposed fine.

According to Mr. Vobah, the school was fined L$100,000 for graduating students who were considered unqualified by education authorities.

He said education officials have made several attempts to get the school to pay the fine, but the administration has allegedly refused to comply.

Mr. Vobah disclosed that authorities considered closing the school immediately but decided against the action because of the students currently attending classes.

He warned that if the fine remains unpaid, St. Peter Catholic School will not be allowed to operate during the next academic year.

โ€œThe law applies to everyone,โ€ Mr. Vobah said, stressing that the school must obey the governmentโ€™s decision and settle the fine.
