“The north wind has touched down a hundred feet offshore lifting tiny wavelets heading south in ever deeper ultramarine to the far horizon. A dozen curling maple leaves float on the glassy near-shore water.
I’m trying to get along with the robin who has nested atop the outside lantern of my front door. She swoops off in alarm when I come out. Yesterday she scolded me, but now she’s chortling in short questions.
The guys are putting the raft out today. This unobstructed view down to the south end marks the end of spring So does the sound of tires on the road endlessly whirring.”
