Earth Day is a reminder that we are not separate from this Earth or from one another. We are part of a living, breathing whole, sustained by something greater than ourselves, and held in the quiet presence of God.
It invites us to slow down and remember what we so easily forget in the noise of life: that this planet is not just where we live, but something we belong to, something sacred, something we are entrusted to care for.
Gratitude for being alive on this Earth.
Gratitude for breath, for beauty, for the people we share it with.
And a deeper remembering that nothing here flourishes in neglect. Not our inner lives, not our relationships, not our brothers and sisters around the world, and not this Earth itself.
And even in the midst of everything the world carries, the heaviness, the uncertainty, the grief, please don’t forget to smile. Don’t forget that there is still light, still goodness, still reasons to be present and open and grateful right where you are.
My prayer is that we stay awake to it all, and still choose reverence, responsibility, joy, and love in how we live each day.
