I left the theatre riding an absolute high of adrenaline, emotion, and awe. The performances were stunning. The craftsmanship was exceptional. The storytelling was thoughtful, heartfelt, and hilarious. And 'TombQuest' has very quickly climbed to the top of my list of favorite Starkid productions.

Every year, I am reminded just how lucky I am to be surrounded by so many talented, passionate, and hardworking humans who pour so much of themselves into the stories we tell on stage.

I feel incredibly blessed to be part of this community—to work alongside artists, performers, designers, technicians, and theatre makers who continue to inspire me with their creativity, dedication, and love for what they do. The amount of talent in Toledo never ceases to amaze me, and this past year has been no exception.

This weekend, Black Swamp Players opens The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson—a play about four “mostly” real women thrown together in a totally imagined intersection of their lives.

As always, I enjoyed my time in the audience at Black Swamp Players’ Theatre. I wholeheartedly encourage you to add the remainder of their season (and then the next) to your calendar. Black Swamp Players continues to deliver thoughtful, impactful theatre, and they’re clearly unafraid to tackle scripts that ask big questions of both their artists and their audiences.

Oregon Community Theatre is out here doing the most unhinged (complimentary) thing this month: staging both versions of Neil Simon’s 'The Odd Couple' at the same time. The male-centered cast. The female-centered cast. Two full productions. Rehearsed simultaneously. Performed on alternating nights.

Absolutely wild behavior. And I say that with awe.
