Thanks for stopping by to check out me and my original acrylic artwork! I’ve been painting since I was a young teenager with numerous breaks due to work, kids and business. I’m largely self taught although I did take semi-private painting lessons for a couple of years when I was a young teenager from a local watercolor artist. I initially learned to paint in both watercolors and oils although I qu

ickly transitioned to painting with acrylics and today that is my preferred medium. During my teens and early twenties I lived in Connecticut and exhibited and sold my work often during the vibrant local summer art show season and in a few local galleries. I was fortunate to win numerous awards and ribbons and I even considered making art a career and going to an art college...But my parents convinced me to pursue a degree in Business Management which is what I did! I retired in 2018 and we moved back to our home state of Connecticut where I was able again to really focus on my art and many other passions (woodworking, hiking and just being out in nature.) I have a dedicated art studio space now in my home and often on nice days I'll move outside to the back deck to enjoy the birds and nature. A narrow ribbon of water threads between steep granite walls and drops into a dark, glassy pool. I focused on that split second before the leap—a lone figure in red trunks, the scale of the rocks, and the quiet tension of the moment. Back in the 70s we’d drive to Indian Well in Shelton, CT and jump from the ledges without telling the adults; it was about thirty feet from the top and around twenty from the mid point, with maybe eight feet of depth in the center on a good day. That mix of risk and freedom is what stayed with me. See it here: https://www.skipmarshart.com/originals/original_art_products/life-in-the-70-s

I made Nubble Light after a March visit to York, Maine when everything was still gray. I imagined the lush greens that would come later and placed the white tower on layered granite ledges with the keeper’s house and that small red shed nearby. The scene feels calm and steady, with soft daylight across the grass and stone and a single red accent to catch the eye. I just added Vibrant Jungle Falls to the shop. It’s a fantasy waterfall scene set in a lush jungle, with tiered falls pouring into a turquoise pool and a path of smooth river stones that draws the eye inward. A warm wash of light keeps the colors calm, so it works as a peaceful focal point for a living room, office, or reading nook.
