John Adams wanted Jefferson. Jefferson wanted anyone else. Franklin wanted a nap. Sherman wanted to go home. Livingston wasn't sure why he was even there.

And so began the most important committee meeting in the history of the world. 🇺🇸

The Gang of Five. The Declaration of Independence. And one of the funniest, most surprisingly moving scenes ever put on a musical stage.

Meet the Cool, Cool Conservative Men of the Continental Congress — The villains you can't help but enjoy. They had one mission: keep things exactly as they were. No independence. No Declaration. No trouble. The powdered-wig brigade who would really rather not start any trouble with the Crown, thank you very much.

But history, it turns out, had other plans. 🇺🇸

They've got money. They've got manners. They've got absolutely no interest in risking either. They're absolutely convinced they're right. And they have one of the best numbers in the show.
