My clients requested a very subtle background, in their mural. They also wanted the Great Blue Heron to really “pop!” Do you think I captured their vision?

My client wanted an Ocean View, minus the hefty cost of Beachfront front property. Over the years, I’ve painted more beach scenes than I can count - but a beach scene on a driveway is definitely a first for me! My client is thrilled with her mural! What do you think of this one?

Hey Everybody, FYI; I’m off Messenger again. It’s difficult to refrain from responding to a message - but, every time I do, I seem to get “hacked!”

For Decades, though I painted some murals, I was most often commissioned to paint traditional art on canvas. Several years ago however, I was commissioned to paint a mural that happened to have been published in the newspaper. And almost instantly, I became primarily known as a “Muralist!”
(Thank you Karen for that very first lead!)
I would be embarrassed to admit how long it took me to finally complete this commissioned painting on canvas! Many thanks for your patience, Linda!
Yes, it’s a painting on canvas - yet, it too is a mural. Though it’s not the first frame I’ve created with a paint brush, it sure was a doozy! Even with some “mechanical drafting” assistance from the hubby! 😅

MURALS BY DEBBIE
As I’ve said many times, the most difficult (and important) part of any painting commission is “getting into my client’s minds eye.” Once achieved, in my own mind, the painting is complete. It’s just a matter of laying it down permanently… in paint!

Every once in awhile a stenciled mural, put down by the contractor, is not what was expected. The contractor called me in on this job to see what I could do (“artistically” speaking) to make his customer happy. The homeowner is now, as they say…. “tickled pink!” What do you think of the transformation?

Just finished one. My clients liked a similar mural that I previously painted on a driveway, and thought it would look nice on their lanai floor.

My clients wanted a piece of “home.” So they commissioned me to paint the Nubble Lighthouse at Cape Neddick, in Maine. The photos are a bit distorted; the lighthouse and buildings are not leaning. Vertically challenged, I should have stood on a ladder to snap the pictures! 😂🎨

Some older works (prints)…
Approx years painted, circa; 1997 - 2016
This presentation isn’t in the least bit polished. However, someone has been asking if I still have any “Tybee” themed prints left. Some day I may have time to work on my website and have a section for prints available. The wonderfully tenacious person, to whom I am referring , has been waiting patiently for two years. So for now, I’ll forgo addressing my website, and just post here. If anyone else has an interest in these prints, please let me know.
Thank you,

“Before & After,” what a difference!

I’m always amazed at the incredible curb appeal a coated driveway makes! Adding a mural painting as the focal point is (hopefully) the icing on the cake!

Finished this driveway mural today. Needless to say my clients prefer very fine detail. This “Eagle” composition is one of the most detailed paintings I’ve ever been commissioned to create, with respect to “driveway” murals. What do you think of this one?

A “Window to the Sea.”

My second mural for this wonderful client! This time she requested a “Window to the Sea” composition. I typically don’t paint back to back murals, just too taxing. However, I was forced to play “catch up” after recovering from Covid.
Looking forward to friends visiting, taking a “staycation,” and a much needed break!
What do you think of this mural?

My latest work, a “Mermaid themed” driveway mural. Though I’ve painted many “under the sea” paintings over the years - this is a first for me with respect to a “sea themed” driveway mural containing this much detail!

This one is so large and unique that I had to share !

MURALS BY DEBBIE
I haven’t shared images of my work in awhile, but this one is just so unique and different…
My client had a vision: “a large oak tree, beside an aqua blue River, with a couple of sandhill crane, under the light of the silvery moon.” What do you think; was I successful in capturing the image in my client’s “mind’s eye?”
Thank You Amy Newsom, Aesthetic Concrete, for the referral!

MURALS BY DEBBIE

Two very different recent works;
The motor cycle “driveway” mural is a total departure from what I’m most commonly asked to paint, such as the palm mural also pictured here. Painting Commissions, as I’ve mentioned many times, is all about getting into the client’s “mind’s eye.”
The motor cycle composition was loosely based on a “Precious Moment’s” collectible (pictured under comments.) The mural is a special reminder, as my client said, “of another life...”

This is the third mural I’ve painted for these particular wonderful clients. I’m often commissioned because, as my motto goes, “Nobody wants to look at a wall.” Look closely at the reflections in the glass sliders, and you’ll see a lovely pool and a beautiful lot.
What an honor to be hired to paint another mural for clients who already have such a gorgeous view!

MURALS BY DEBBIE

Mural paintings are more in line with what I’m most known for at this point in at this point in life. Some clients prefer very bright and colorful work, others desire a softer palette. The goal is to match the artwork to that which appears in my client’s “mind’s eye.”
Pictured here is a driveway mural that I painted using a softer more subdued palette. Notice the striking contrast to one with a similar composition, depicting a much brighter palette, (pictured below, under comments.)
Just curious, which palette do you prefer… more colorful or subdued?

My latest piece for a wonderful and faithful client!

Most often, painting on location is synonymous with a Mural. However, as previously mentioned, that’s not always the case.
This Bar, before applying a single brush stroke, was already a top quality piece of furniture - weighing a ton! Therefore, it was necessary that I paint it on location in my client, Barb Miller’s, beautiful home.

Immediately upon entry, was quite the trip down memory lane. Barb has commissioned me to paint a number of pieces through the years. I tease that she “keeps me on retainer,” because with each project I paint, Barb has another waiting in the wings!

Barb is one of my very first clients since moving from home (Tybee Island.) As the saying goes; “where everybody knew my name, to a totally new place and a complete unknown.” Always spreading the word about my work, Barb is one of my greatest supporters!

Thank you so much Barb Miller for your patronage and support! There is no greater compliment to an artist, than to have multiple pieces of one’s work adorning such a beautiful home!

MURALS BY DEBBIE
My client was inspired by another driveway mural that I previously painted; it featured a great blue heron in the composition. However, she preferred a large white egret instead. I intensified the “setting sun” so the egret would really “pop.”
Thankfully, my client is delighted with the results! What do you think of this one?

I’ve experienced some issues with my painting hand for quite some time; Consequently, I have fallen very behind! My hand is getting much better, and I’m starting to feel as though I’m making some headway!
Finally finished some work that folks have been anxiously awaiting on for an extraordinarily long time! Pictured here, are some “Before” and “After” shots of just one of them!

Two very recent driveway murals. This is a first for me; two murals, commissioned by two different couples that just so happened to be on the same street. Since they were both booked separately, months ago, I didn’t realize they were in the same neighborhood - much less on the same street!
I painted the four palm mural first. When I arrived all prepared to paint their neighbors’ (the second mural,) they told me they had seen their neighbors’ and decided they too wanted a “sun” incorporated into their mural - but a sunrise scene since that’s the view from their house.
I must admit, it was quite a departure from their original composition request, but once I wrapped my head around it - and most importantly got into their “mind’s eye,” I was able to paint a mural that they both really liked. It was pure “Music to my artist ears,” when she said; “Debbie, it’s your Best work ever!” Not sure that’s true, but it’s absolutely the way I hope all my clients feel when their job is done!

I’m Blessed to do what I Love, and to have the most wonderful clients!
My clients, Pat & Ken, are overjoyed with their driveway mural! With glistening eyes, Pat says; “Oh my gosh, I’m so happy with this mural. I’m about to cry... and I don’t tear up easily!”
Music to my artist ears! 😊👩‍🎨

Here are the “Before & After,” as well as some work in process, shots of my latest work.
Nobody wants to look at a wall! Even if you’ve got the exquisite view my clients Phil and Judy enjoy every day! Phil and Judy commissioned me to paint murals on they’re “slider” walls. I’m delighted to report that they’re thrilled with the end result! What do you think?
