Yesterday began as a typical day; I arrived at my client’s, prepared to paint a “palm themed” driveway mural. My clients had chosen a similar composition to several I had previously painted. Before I started to paint, however, they pointed out a disastrous situation that had recently occurred with some of their exterior, vinyl moulding.
A contractor they had hired, for some additional work on their home, had a new guy on the job. The poor fellow came way too close to the house with a “torch,” which resulted in ruining (melting) the bottoms of several pieces of their exterior moulding!
Naturally, my clients, the contractor, and the poor fellow who created the “nightmare” were all devastated by the unintentional and most unfortunate accident!
The contractor told my clients that he would, of course, pay for the replacement of the damaged moulding, to please just obtain an estimate or two. My clients followed his instructions, but were astounded by what they deemed as an exorbitant cost for the “fix!” They really hated to have to relay the info, and genuinely felt for the contractor who was going to get saddled with such an expense!
In my work, though both physically and mentally taxing, I’ve found that I sort of enjoy the challenge of “turning a Sow’s ear into a Silk purse!” Thus, I showed my client’s some pictures of other jobs where I had been able to do so, and asked them if they would like me to give it a shot? We discussed some ideas I had, and they decided to let me run with it!
Here is a video of the finished product followed by some “before and after shots.” Be sure to look closely at the bottoms of the vinyl moulding pieces pictured.
Lol, as usual I was totally worn out, but felt a great satisfaction in the knowledge that both my clients and the contractor were exceedingly happy with the outcome!
